  1. On the latest episode of UnderScore, we sat down with Alan Snelling, assistant engineer to Eric Tomlinson on Star Wars (as well as Raiders, Superman and the rest of the original trilogy), who shared some wonderful recollections of the historic first recording of the Main Title. The remainder of the episode is a near hour-long musical exploration into the composition, orchestration and storytelling power of that infamous minute and a half of music. Enjoy! [This is the second episode in a six-part series on the score]
  2. What the title says; what if your favorite obscure motif from any of the Star Wars films. I'm referring to a re-occurring motif that either has no specific meaning or is just not noticed by most people. Mine are probably Maul's motif (yes, he has his own motif; NOT DotF) and the unknown "Sith" motif (as I call it) from ROTS.

  4. What is your favorite Star Wars alien or creature thing, or even just a few aliens or creature things that you were thinking of throughout your day 😝? Show them below with a picture and what you like about or don't like about them, as well as any thoughts you have on Star Wars aliens and creatures as a whole. In the end I hope to see just about everything up here.
  5. JOSH TRANK TO DIRECT STAND-ALONE STAR WARS FILM June 04, 2014 In addition to the episodes of a new Star Wars trilogy, Lucasfilm and Disney continue development of multiple stand-alone movies that will offer new stories beyond the core Saga. The newest director to come on board is Josh Trank. "We're thrilled to welcome Josh into the family," says Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. "He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and
  6. Hey! Could anyone tell me how I can get the soundtracks for the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy and the Original Trilogy? Where is the best place to get them and where can I find complete OST's at a good price. I'm trying to complete my collection so if someone could help that would be great!
  7. Personnaly, I've taken the decision not to buy the BD of TLJ now, and I will not buy the BD of Episode IX neither. I will instead wait for a boxset reuniting the 3 movies from the new trilogy... Hoping they will fix these three things in it: - Chewie not hugging Leia when he come back to the Resistance base (TFA) - The "Thing" that looks like Yoda (TLJ) - Put the scene where Chewie try to eat a Porg in the Deleted Scenes where it belongs (TLJ).
  8. I try What @Jay asked me to do, to be more specific in our threads titles... we'll see how time it will hold. So the lastest press news, says the 6 CD will feature the "reconstructed" programs of the 6 OST (in the case of the OT, we obviously speak about the LP programs). Yes, we calculated it, the 2-LP programs can now fit on a single modern CD. So that's it... now, we have to wait for new relevant information that will be given by secured sources (Disney, etc.) and some our friends who have contacts...
  9. In this thread you can openly discuss The Last Jedi with no spoiler blocks at all, but here in the early days before wide release it's ok if you want to block certain things. LAST WARNING!!! SPOILERS ALLOWED BEYOND THIS POINT!!!
  10. Great news. John Williams officially confirms to John Burlingame in his new detailed interview to Variety. Read below and rejoice! (Thanks to Mike Matessino for the alert) http://variety.com/2018/music/awards/john-williams-could-set-oscar-record-1202658996/
  11. The Last Jedi opened in the USA tonight, and in addition to the standard 7:00 pm showings, there was also a 6:00 pm showing that including free snacks, some swag, and exclusive visual content before the main film. Many thought the visual content would be a look at Solo: A Star Wars Story, so you can imagine my surprise when, after a spoken introduction recording by Rian Johnson, we were treated to a 5-or-so minute long tribute to Williams, and a look at his work on The Last Jedi. There weren’t any specific new things to me - it was mainly people praising Williams, and Williams tal

  13. Solo is being recorded in London right now so Williams theme for Han is already done. I guess that makes sense since it comes out in May. I'm actually excited to hear Williams' theme and Powell's score.
  14. Before I share my full review of the Star Wars: The Last Jedi OST, does anyone have any specific moments in the soundtrack that they would wish to highlight in this discussion? Additionally, does anyone know the name of the recurring theme in Star Wars The Last Jedi. I believe it to be Finn and Rose's theme. Any ideas? EDIT: It's Rose's theme.
  15. Hi just want to know if anyone has or knows how to make a black imperial guard. I just want one because i find them very cool just comment for any suggestions.
  16. Pittsburgh Symphony Trombonist Releases Star Wars Album James Nova, trombonist in the Pittsburgh Symphony orchestra, has released a new album for trombone choir, A Fall from Light to Dark. Through the chosen moments of John Williams’ masterful scores, this album musically chronicles the rise and descent of Anakin Skywalker as he transforms into Darth Vader. Jim has had a lifelong love of John Williams’ film scores since his Dad took him and his brother to see The Empire Strikes Back in the theater. Throughout his career he has performed and recorded with John Williams o
  17. Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, which released the album John Williams Film Spectacular (85th anniversary collection) earlier this year, will release the one-CD album Star Wars Heptalogy on 22 December in Europe and USA, and on 13 December in Japan. It seems that some of the tracks are taken from the Film Spectacular album. 18. John Williams is reportedly composing the theme of the Han Solo movie. Do you think something like this could ever be as iconic as Leia or Luke's themes in the OT, or do you suppose it will simply be just another anthology movie soundtrack for Star Wars? Share your thoughts and wait for the trailer.
  19. http://variety.com/2018/film/news/mark-hamill-on-star-wars-music-composer-john-williams-1202659494/ John Burlingame did another write up on John Williams and this time talked to STAR WARS actor Mark Hamill. What was supposed to be a five minute chat ended up in much longer interview that it warranted a new spin off article to what Jon did yesterday. After reading this I sent this message to Jon Burlingame: 'He is the entire cast ' What a great and humble way of (showing) respect to our Maestro: Williams. I'm so moved. And it appear
  20. This was a total surprise. I was at the offices of The Korea Times in Seoul earlier today doing some research into the 1969 hijacking of an airliner by North Korea (that's one of the articles I photographed) and also some violence committed in 1999 by one of the many cults Korea has produced when I stumbled upon a Williams article about his work on The Phantom Menace. Interestingly, he mentions Princess Leia's Theme, but it sounds like he just meant that some of his original trilogy themes make brief appearances and not Princess Leia's Theme per se - "Princess Leia's Theme or whatever". Yoda's
  21. It has been roughly a month since The Last Jedi hit theaters in December last year, and since its release, it has certainly caused waves and division among the Star Wars fanbase and the public in general. While plenty of people thoroughly enjoyed the film, there are a good deal of those that disliked it, and even some who call for its removal from the franchise's overall canon. How did you feel about the latest installment of the Star Wars saga, The Last Jedi?
