Many of my favourite films have scores I wouldn't listen to. Go figure.

I was just remarking that it was a great music to listen to, nothing more. It's role in the film, however, is entirely different matter. Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it feels like it doesn't help to build Middle Earth to the same extent to other three did. If it was to fix some of films' problems, it's not allowed to either. But that doesn't mean it's a bad music. In fact, the album tells the story in much better way the film does. Which may be why they removed so much of it. In a sense it might have been... well... too self-indulgent, perhaps?

I told you what I think of the film as a whole in the other thread, didn't I?

I think there's only me, Joey and Alex here who first and foremost value good, pure film over other factors involved in their making. Possibly Stefan too, though I'm not certain.

Count me in as well.

I don't need films to have redundancy just so we get more cool music.

You're not happy about the two new scores then? ;)

The giants didn't even know they were there.

so? what does that have to do with anything and why would that make the scene pointless?

I literally had goosebumps while watching it.

It was like they inserted the Disney land tie-in ride promotional video into the movie.

disney, huh?

says the radagast fanboy ;)

I don't want to think on it right now.

uh-oh!

And by the skin of its teeth, The Hobbit was just good enough to make fans go...

"Alright...I'll go see the next one for sure!"

At least I think that's the case.

the film has a nice boxoffice weekend but this film is no threat to the Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, or the Hunger Games. Maybe not even Breaking Dawn 2.

It's a Christmas movie...the weekend can't be compared to the summer movies.

If its weekend multiplier is anything like the previous Lord of the Rings movies (5.5 for TT, 5.2 for ROTK), it will easily clear $420 million. That's my conservative estimate.

It depends on how good Les Miserables is.
