Your 10 most favourite films of 20th century!

I love film lists (i learn also about new films that I've never seen), so I thought to start this thread here.

I had started a series of threads in a Greek forum (e.g 10 most favourite films of 90s, 80s, 70s and so on, and in the end I put a thread like this one)

So, what are your favourite movies of this century?

Not the ones that you think are the best, but the ones that you love most. That you can watch over and over, and feel each time as the first time. That you're never bored to see.

You can choose from a wide range of live action films, animation, anime. Not short films or documentaries.

Mine are: (first 2 in order of priority, the rest in random)

1. Ε.Τ. -Τhe Extra Terrestrial (the most magical film ever!)

2. Beauty and the Beast (Disney)

Fantasia

Indiana Jones & temple of Doom

The Empire Strikes Back

Amadeus

Jurassic Park

Terminator 2

Batman Returns

Titanic

Well, as it was expected, all these films are films that I've seen in my childhood (and teens), so these are my favourite because those usually mark us and stay with us forever..

As you can see, there are already 4 John Williams scored films in there. ;)

E.T., Jaws, Superman, Aliens, The Invisible Man, Carrie, Ben Hur, Beauty and the Beast, A Christmas Carol (51), Dark Victory.

This is a very fluid list subject to change. Mark and I have 5 B&W films between us.

Once Upon A Time In The West

The Good, The Bad And The Ugly

The Thin Red Line

A Clockwork Orange

Rear Window

Seven Samurai

The Third Man

Pulp Fiction

Fargo

Apocalypse Now

A very difficult list. One that changes quite frequently. Top 25 would be better, but for the moment those are it, in no particular order other than #1.

In no particular order, and constantly subject to change:

Captain Blood

Carlito's Way

Fight Club

Heavenly Creatures

The Legend of 1900

Much Ado About Nothing (Branagh)

Scaramouche

Sneakers

At the very least, these are all films I can watch over and over again and each time be certain that they're very dear favourites.

Edit: Realised immediately after posting that I'd forgotten about the century limit while coming up with my list. Edited it to fix that, but I now have two vacant spots I can't immediately fill off the top of my head.

About the original post, I don't know "filmmusic's" age but I had many same favorites that time. Today I only like E.T. and Amadeus of those.

Getting older tastes seem to be chancing a bit.

I was born in 1980.

During the last 3-4 years I'm watching all the time classic films, so I'm discovering too many gems that I've missed, but those ones will stay in my heart.

Unless in another 30 years the ones I'm watching now, take over! ;)

Wow, Mr. Josh, that Great Mouse detective is a very odd choice, among all the other Disney masterpieces! :)

:-) I will have to blame that on the fact that I watched it over and over as a young little person. Big part of my childhood there.

If you expect me to say "KK knows just as much as the Boal", I'm not gonna do it. Sorry!

Of course not. He knows more.

This is next to impossible to just pick 10 films for an entire century of films, but here are the first 10 that came to mind.

2001: A Space Odyssey

The Shawshank Redemption

Jaws

Grave of the Fireflies

The Godfather

Raiders of the Lost Ark

Jackie Brown

Contact

Magnolia

Double Indemnity

Isn't that that Keanu Reeves movie?

Yes, by Catherine Bingelow (oscar winner for the Hurt Locker)

well, in tough choices like this, you're really picking your favourites, don't you? ;) (I'm speaking rhetorically)

Difficult. It's never a set list. Perhaps something like this:

1. ALIEN

2. ALIENS

3. JURASSIC PARK

4. BLADE RUNNER

5. SCHINDLER'S LIST

6. THE APU TRILOGY

7. STAR WARS

8. PROFESSIONE: REPORTER

9. 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY

10. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

Or something like that. Heavy on the Spielberg and Scott, but hey...what can I say? We're talking favourites here.

He had Eternal Sunshine and Stardust in there which he now edited out.

Yes, but right after submitting, before you posted yours. ;) As I said, I got caught up in pondering my favourites and forgot all about the century restriction.

I'm also surprised how many of my certain favourites are from the last ~10 years.

I can relate to that. I only watched it after I've been thinking about watching it for a while.

I was also positively surprised.

I remember being awfully bored by The Virgin Suicides, though I'd need to see it again.

Well, that's a matter of taste. I do appreciate slower movies, often more than faster movies. I can see why you'd been bored by it. ^^

Isn't that that Keanu Reeves movie?

Yes, even though I'd think of Speed first.

Same here. There are at least 3 that would make my top 10 list.

I think a more interesting list would be your favorite movies from the time you were born. So I could only choose films from 1990-2012. Actually...
