Potter Scoring Project 547
Hi everyone! WampaRat 1,105
I was finally able to listen through all the cues you’ve composed so far for Order of the Phoenix. I’m truly amazed at the attention to detail and thought put into each one of these cues to capture Williams approach and style. I had genuine goosebumps in a handful of cues. Brilliant work. Bravo! Potter Scoring Project 547
Tragic moments call for over-the-top scoring. We're super excited to release a cue we've waited a long time to finally share - Cue 34: The Veil and Death of Sirius. Let us know what you think! Demosthenes and bored
bored 314
I love the newest cue! My only issue is the repeat of "Window To The Past" when Sirius dies honestly just feels too happy, and kind of lacks the emotional impact. I get it's supposed to contrast from when Sirius escaped (arguably when he was happiest), but I think at the least a new / darker key signature for the theme would have really helped push the trauma and sadness Harry feels.
Demosthenes 1
Wow, the death of Sirius hurt! I loved how the Window to the Past theme started slow, as Harry struggled to process, and then got louder and faster as Harry was more filled with grief and rage. So much better than the original! Potter Scoring Project 547
Good to hear from you both again! We're glad to hear you've liked the cue.@superultramegaa Thanks for the feedback on Window to the Past. In terms of the arrangement used here, recalling the letter to Sirius in cue 15 was more at the forefront of our minds, but we definitely wanted to capture the emotions from Prisoner of Azkaban as well. It also connects us to the fact that Harry's still only 15 and needing that connection he discovered when Sirius escaped. But we also see your point about key signature and appreciate the input. It would be an interesting alternate arrangement! MS Thank you @Demosthenes for your comment, it was definitely a balance pacing this as it goes so quickly. We're glad you like it - with this project being an "alternate universe" version of the score, we purposely didn't base it off anything Hooper wrote, and always made sure we steered towards what JW might have done. We hope he'd approve! BP

bored 314
I really enjoyed it as well! So much more fun and interesting uses of themes than the original. Not sure how I feel about HP4, because of the aesthetics of the cheaper instruments, but composition-wise it was well done, and I loved the inclusion of the old themes. HP5 however, is basically what I always wanted from that movie's score! With the numerous callbacks to POA's score, (and of course the first 2 movies' motifs) with new, distinct, and well thought-out themes that will carry through the dark half of the series. Your team did a great job at capturing the Williams sound and magic. Potter Scoring Project

In the coming weeks after the end credits are out, we're going to get right on it. It was a lot of work switching DAWs and getting new sample libraries for OOTP, but we wanted to do JW's material justice and had a lot of fun expanding from Goblet of Fire. FrankFWJH 6
Great work! I hadn't been keeping up since the early cues of OoTP from last year, but I took the time to catch up the other day and just finished your end credits. As an interpretive project (in terms of capturing Williams' style), it's a fantastic piece of work, and the creativity involved is quite breath-taking in terms of where you take existing motifs, and your own new ones. Listening to the end credits, the part that just 'felt' most like Williams to me was at the transition into Buckbeak's flight at 7:30, hit the nail right on the head. I suspect it's those magical textures that surround the melody. Anyway, again huge congratulations. Apologies (as I can guess you've been asked these questions many times, I tried to look through the recent comments but with the sheer volume of feedback you've gotten it would take ages!), but I have a couple of questions if you'd be obliged to answer. Firstly, of course, are you thinking of moving on to the Half-Blood Prince for your next project? And secondly, hearing these cues I'm thinking all the time what they would sound like with an orchestra, particularly in places that I mentioned where you've hit Williams' style perfectly, with the sound an orchestra brings they'd sound exquisite. I'm wondering if you've ever considered setting up a patreon or gofundme to raise funds for investigating that, or is it just something you're not interested in doing? Again, endless praise for where this project went! Potter Scoring Project

We're so glad to hear you enjoyed OOTP, and it's really exciting to see that people are going through the whole score now that it's done. Our sincerest thanks for your compliments. Getting the interpretive stamp of approval from JWFanners is all we could have hoped for when this project was just a pipe dream. In terms of Half-Blood Prince..... And regarding crowdfunding, it’s not been on our radar, but if there's interest, we would love to venture out into that realm. Getting cues recorded by a live orchestra is the dream! I still remember freaking out at that listening to the soundtrack for the first time and then having second thoughts once I realized that Dobby-esque figure is just part of the Obliviate/trio theme. I also have to think it's much more likely coincidence since if he had the thought to do that on purpose, why would he also write a whole other theme for Dobby. But it's good happenstance.
