That was my first thought too

A general meh from a lot of Williams fans but the implications for future releases would certainly cause a lot of drooling!

The backlash to The Last Jedi and Solo online and elsewhere has been, quite frankly, embarrassing.

It's the same type of shit just like when someone makes a Trump joke and they expect a round of applause for pointing out what everyone already knew, a thick smog of pretension fills the air, 'everyone who disagrees is just a loony'. Here with Solo and Star Wars, it's popular to hate everything.

That didn't stop people from seeing Rogue One.

No true scotsman fallacy. Fans were upset, yes, but a large portion still found the film entertaining, bought tickets and the home media.

I've personally not encountered the criticism for Han's portrayal in Solo, I think that's one thing people have been positive about because it isn't a straight Harrison Ford impersonation.

I never listen to the fans or the audience reviews, simply because I never expect another fan's opinions to be near my own.

They've both enjoyed careers in producing films, in Kennedy's case she has had a hand in some of the most beloved film franchises in history. They aren't going to roll over because a bunch of crybabies didn't like their movie.

What concerns? That they should just give up? 'Hey lucasfilm, I hated TFA, TLJ, Solo and R1, so you guys better make a good film next time'.

    Please.

Not sure if it has been addressed here yet, but Hamill made statements before and after that little tidbit saying that he disagreed with Johnson on the direction of Luke's character, but ultimately came to the conclusion that it was up to the director to shape Luke's character and not his role as an actor. This whole quote is generally warped far from the truth of the matter.

I agree with the first part, the part about it being 'too soon' I think is ridiculous. Nothing's too soon.
I've never cottoned on to the 'SJW mentality is ruining the films' narrative simply because it isn't surprising that a film today carries the social commentary and messages of the time. Sometimes it can be a bit on the nose, but not to the extent that it 'ruined Star Wars', and if you have to even say a thing like that then you really need to go home and rethink your life. These are just films, yet a lot of people seem to take them and worship them in such an unhealthy way.

I still bought all the merchandise and shit, at this point I've become more a fan of the filmmaking as opposed to the film!

But seriously, Solo was a failure because people have Star Wars fatigue, not for ideological aggravations.  They just were not interested in what was, in essence, an unnecessary film, no matter how good or bad it was.

Another aspect to consider is that many people had written off Star Wars after TPM and AotC, or at least gotten used to the fact that their fandom would be selective. TFA had the monumental task of getting everyone back on board, and, by and large it succeeded—many people are along for the ride. For some, though, it’s all too easy to lump any movie they don’t like in with the preexisting list of movies-they-don’t-like (or movies-that-don’t-exist… just like KotCS).

Another point is that I had heard people state that Solo was a bad idea for years before the film’s release. I don’t know why—for me it’s a pretty solid concept.

I had pretty forgotten it existed because I couldn't get into TFA no matter how competent it is, and then I saw it one morning and I loved it.

The Last Jedi isn't without flaws, and I was disappointed by the film AND the score, but not to the levels of throwing a hissy fit over the legacy of the franchise.

If the film sucks, I'm blaming Trevorrow. I can't believe Spielberg handed him the keys to the 6th/3rd film.

If the film stems are out there, I'm gobsmacked they haven't leaked yet! Serves Lucasfilm right for basically sitting on the sessions and doing jack shit in over a decade about them.

Talk about wasted opportunity for revenue.

Which part, exactly? There is absolutely nothing stopping Lucasfilm from monetising not just the entire Star Wars series of complete scores, but all the Indy scores as well, if they so desired. Their refusal to do so does nothing except encourage fans to find alternate means to acquire these materials. If the entire film stem for TOD leaked, I wouldn't feel an ounce of sympathy for Lucasfilm because they've done jack shit with the property in a decade! It serves them right for sitting on their hands and letting an obvious opportunity (both in streaming and physical releases) go begging.

As evidenced by the speciality labels, there is a market for these scores and an audience who are fully willing to pay premium price to access them! Their steadfast refusal to do anything except regurgitate ancient masters or outdated assemblies (for two decades in the case of SW and one decade for Indy) is entirely worthy of criticism.

They'd make a ton more money through their streaming services and so forth, which speciality labels rarely get the licences for. They also wouldn't be limited to certain quantities of releases, allowing them to saturate the market.

Not to mention a major label has the full force of Disney's marketing behind it, probably with promotion on the official website and so forth.

Maybe the wider implications could refer to the current sequels, starting with JURASSIC WORLD?

Another wild card theory of mine is it could be if LLL has entered an agreement with Lucasfilm to start with the Indy scores? Thus a newly remastered and expansion of INDIANA JONES/ KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL could be it. A kinda of 'meh' for many of us but the wider implications of the release could mean a proper restoration of the earlier classic three films with no one else but Mike Matessino at the helm?

He explicitly did: he always talked about them as three "parts" of a grand opera.

The practical implications is that, having the book, and all three scripts to hand and having seen footage from all three films, he wrote and introduced, in The Fellowship of the Ring, themes that don't have much bearing upon the story of that film, on its own, such as the Gondor and Minas Tirith themes.

Another composer, say, Horner (Jackson's first choice) probably wouldn't have done that. He would just use whatever themes each individual film would have justified.

So yeah, I would say the trilogy or really the entire sextet is of a piece.
