Andy 6,045 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 First Ford almost kills himself. Then Nimoy dies. Then Harve Bennett. Then Grace Lee Whitney. The Nichelle Nichols has a stroke. Then we lost Christopher Lee.I can't take this anymore. This has been a bad year for my heroes.
Wojo 2,458 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 It's not going to be Horner. It'll be someone else.
Wojo 2,458 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 And yet, the crash happened twelve hours ago. Plenty of time for his camp to find him or release a statement. This can't be good.
Director of Poltergeist 8,189 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 We would have learned by now if he wasn't the pilot?
Hlao-roo 390 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 http://mashable.com/2015/06/22/composer-james-horner-plane-crash/Horner's agency did not immediately return messages left Monday evening, and his lawyer told Mashable only that no one had heard from Horner since the crash was reported Monday morning about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara.
Not Mr. Big 4,823 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 Apparently his assistant confirmed that it was him...
Sharkissimo 1,976 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 It's like a horrible dream. If true, my heart out goes to Sarah Horner, and the rest of James's family and friends.
The Psycho Pianist 220 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 One of the greats. Premature but it would be a huge loss to film music if Horner were gone.
Mr. Brown 91 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 A user at FSM claims that James Horner's assistant has confirmed that Horner was the pilot.Sad and unexpected.

Not Mr. Big 4,823 Posted June 23, 2015 Author Posted June 23, 2015 I always took comfort in the fact that Horner would still be working after Williams was gone...
karelm 3,211 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Oh no So so sad but it does look increasingly unlikely that he is not the pilot.
Lewya 361 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I always took comfort in the fact that Horner would still be working after Williams was gone... Same, he had many more great scores left in him and just got back after his break.
karelm 3,211 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Reliable sources say that the pilot was James Horner. I’m just stunned. Stunned.https://twitter.com/kbfornow/status/613158156240330752 :( :(
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I just cried in front of my kids. Wish I hadn't done that.
King Mark 3,837 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 He was still #2 in my books after Williams JoeinAR 1
karelm 3,211 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 From Horner's assistant on her own Facebook page..."His assistant posted this today: "A great tragedy has struck my family today, and I will not be around for a while. I would like some privacy and time to heal. We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart, and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road. Love Sylvia."
JoeinAR 1,955 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I will play Stealing the Enterprise, perhaps my favorite of all his works.
gkgyver 1,647 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Oh god ...!That's even more shocking than the death of John Barry to me.
Director of Poltergeist 8,189 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I don't recommend playing Amazing Grace right now. Jesus.
crumbs 15,530 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Fuck... that's just devastating news. Absolutely devastating. I feel sick. What an amazing talent the world has just lost in such tragic circumstances.Thoughts with his entire family.
King Mark 3,837 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 well yeah,, John Barry wasn't even active as a composer anymoreHorner had great recent works like Black Gold and a bunch of works coming out this year
Sharkissimo 1,976 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Because I needed to bawl my eyes out. This guy scored almost my entire early childhood. Land Before Time, *batteries not included, Once Upon a Forest, The Pagemaster, An American Tail, We're Back, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Jumanji etc.
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,261 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 This has hit me harder than I would have ever expected.
karelm 3,211 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Though not official, this does not look promising. As a composer, skipper and pilot, I understand the call of the sea and sky. If this is true (as it increasingly appears to be) I must say he died doing what he loved and that is a rare and good thing. That you lived your life pursuing your passion to the fullest. crumbs 1
King Mark 3,837 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Too bad he liked planes, he could have chosen something safer like JW (trees)
Muad'Dib 1,953 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 This has hit me harder than I would have ever expected.Me too, it's so.... sudden.
