    Lest speculate:

Anymore Williams this month? I hope we can get 'Amistad'. As for another James Horner title I'd like to see is 'Glory'. As an African -Amercian related theme these would make a terrific combo for a release.....

As for Goldsmith maybe we could get another Fox series title..

P.S. Battle of Antietem (Anniv. ) as in GLORY takes place on Sep 17th. ...

Awesome. Only place I’ve seen that number of limited editions for sale in a regular cd store is FNAC on the Champs-Élysées in Paris but the markup was pretty horrific even if you take postage into account. Think I bought a couple of things years ago I intended to get but hadn’t got round to, just for the novelty. Of course I didn’t have any means to get the music onto my iPod…

That's the Tower Records Flagship Store in Tokyo, Japan. I'm not there right now, but I've been there in the past. Second to none, when it comes to CDs. They've got everything on massive nine floors!

A friend sent me that pic. She knows I collect John Williams CDs....

Man, that's some store. Imagine waking up in the morning, casually strolling into a store, making a small purchase (say, 6 albums worth around 200 bucks), and then going home, with an extra spring in your step...

    Hi All,

I just joined up now to let you know, just in case you hadn't noticed yet, that someone uploaded an episode of Convoy onto YouTube 2 days ago, and it's actually one of the ones scored by Williams. It's called "Lady on the Rock" and it's here:

This is what Mike says about this:

"RSO was in trouble beginning with the failure of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1979 and then the famous $200 million lawsuit the Bee Gees filed against them the following year. In 1981 Stigwood pulled out of the company and the new management, cutting corners due to the lawsuit, plus seeing that The Empire Strikes Back did not sell as well as Star Wars (along with declining soundtrack sales in general), mandated a single LP for JEDI and wanted a song and themes included on it. As a result half the album was material recorded specifically for it. RSO was interested in getting things on MTV at that point, so they became the wrong label for score soundtracks, which suffered across the board over the next several years."

What a wonderful evening! Williams indeed seemed to be in great spirits, with his wonderful yet gentle energy as warm as ever. He and I made eye contact several times as he was speaking, since I was in front directly to his left, so that was neat!

He also made a couple funny digs at Spielberg - one being that not many people went to see B.F.G., and the other that the sound mix of the Last Crusade motorcycle chase buried his music, so he made a suite of it so it could be heard properly.

As a whole, a heartwarming and exciting evening seeing this living legend live once again.

    Until next time, Maestro!

The action music of John Williams is never just NOISE or generic action music, it's fugues mixed with percussive madness and lyrical sections... it's structured and it have a development, it's not just sections of music randomly mixed together.

    That's very complex writing!

    And it is... just WOW!

I have been able to find it in the on-demand section of the website.
You can find it here, check from time 2:31:54 :https://scala.listennow.link/18215675. They broadcast the first track of disc 1. You will need to register with a free account to access it.
Unfortunately I am not able to record it on my PC.
Not sure why the radio presenter says that his edition contains 40 minutes of unreleased music, which is the same heard in the previous Radio program, although my understanding is that only 36 minutes of over 2 hours program of this edition were previously released.

    Hope you appreciate this :).

I can't understand how different scores have their elements preserved so differently, even when so many things are the same.

Jaws and Eiger Sanction are both 1975 Universal Pictures films, whose scores where considered good enough to justify special recording sessions to re-record highlights to make albums out of to sell.

The 1st gen master of Jaws' film tracks were already deteriorating when they pulled just 25 years later to make the new 5.1 mix of the film in 2000, and the album 1st gen masters burned up in the 2008 UMG fire before anyone got to ever revisit them for a remaster.

Meanwhile Eiger Sanction's film tracks and album tracks are both found perfectly preserved 45 years down the road and we get this great new comprehensive and great sounding remaster of both.

    Go figure.

Williams recorded Quiet City with the Boston Pops, released on the album "Music for Stage and Screen", that includes the suite from Born on the Fourth of July and The Reivers.

As for The Firebird, I've always felt that the Lullaby and Finale are a sort of musical grandparent to Close Encounter's Appearance of the Visitors and Finale.
