Wow. I just saw it. It was sensational. I must have not had the HFR version for some damn reason, because it was obviously in its standard frame rate, but man, the 4K was gorgeous. It looks better than pretty much every film released today.
The 3D was the best I've ever seen. Yes, even better than his Avatar films in my opinion. Which is weird. Maybe it's because of the real world setting is much more familiar to judge visually for us than an alien world. I was awe-struck at the 3D. Completely flawless and immersive. It made me feel like I was watching it for the first time.
...and good lord what a film. Just a masterpiece of cinema. Cameron is ridiculous. I love appreciating the filmmaking techniques, like the actual huge exterior water tank set of the ship, and the detailed inside sets. The models as well are stunning and the seamless integration of model work with sets and miniatures is bloody unbelievable filmmaking.

I love the little nod to Horner at 0:43, with not only the danger motif of course, but the part directly following that, before Payakan's theme blasts out.
Which is a reference to this brass fanfare at 0:55 -
Also the brass fanfare on horns heard as Jake charges for battle on his Skimwing, is more pronounced in the film than in the piece 'Na'vi Attack.' In the piece it takes a slight backseat to the stabbing high brass, yet in the film it is far more showcased and 'badass' you could say, and I like it better personally.
Here is the horn fanfare in the score piece below at 1:03, heard behind the stabbing brass -
And here's the horn fanfare as it is in the film at 0:27 in this clip -

I love that Titanic and Way of Water are essentially evenly matched now and it's a real contest to see which ends higher. This time around anyway, before all the decades of re-releases continue lol.
I'm seeing Titanic tomorrow and Avatar a 7th time on thursday (I know I have a problem haha). But I want to make the most of the cinema experience before I lose that ability (until the inevitable re-release of course). And especially when I get the biggest screens with Dolby Atmos sound all to myself.

Not sure if this link will work, but JoAnn Kane Music Service just posted this score page from Franglen's score:
Here's a screenshot of it - Does anyone recognise this being from any particular album track?
If my memory serves me well, I think he said in some interviews that 'Skimming the Waves' was the original name for the Underwater Theme, essentially what is heard in full glory in 'The Tulkun Return.'

Cleese is a legend of legends. He doesn't give a single molecule of care for the modern day PC nature. He will likely cut loose and give us something brilliant. I trust his comedy instincts.

We just had someone in the news in my country who went more than a 100 times. So 6 doesn't seem that much. Haha
How is that even possible... that's like twice a day since it came out.
I better up my game.

Oh lordy lordy I just saw it for the 6th time and eywa blessed me like a damn Toruk Makto. THE SCREEN WAS EMPTY!
PRAISE AVIS!
I saw it at the friday 3pm showing in 3D with Dolby Atmos and a X-Plus screen, which is basically the biggest screen you can get. I was comfortable, warm, alone, quiet, serene. It was a damn spiritual experience haha. All alone, not seeing a single human being for the entire film. I was so lost in it, even with it being the 6th bloody time I've seen it. Good jebus it was bliss. Like I had a damn 200ft screen with a Dolby Atmos sound system to myself in my own living room.
I even got to sit all the way to the end of the end credits with the lights still down and enjoying the score without any passive aggressive employee sweeping the floor around me trying to get me to leave. No no no.
That was the best cinema experience I've ever had haha. But now I have to go see Titanic on a damn sunday because there's no other showings than weekends and evenings, so I'll be surrounded by morons again. Ah well lol

Just saw it for the 6th time (I know lol) and I really loved the alternate Na'vi Attack cue that is in the film. After Payakan goes badass and lands on the ship, it's different than the score piece, with an incredibly badass build-up to when the Metkayina start their attack run. And also, my god (or should I say Eywa) I really want that soft voices female choir rendition of the Family Theme as Jake is giving himself up and Neytiri is pleading with him. Gorgeous. Also the Darkness and Light cue begins differently in the film with more piano build up before the melody begins on Cello.

I only try to go to my local arthouse art gallery cinema. Just pretentious enough a building that common idiots and kids don't go there. So you are probably guaranteed a 80% chance of a moron-free experience. If I have to go to my local bigger cinema for films the arthouse doesn't show, then it's a 100% moron experience

Franglen should definitely win something from a category. The more I listen to his Avatar score, the more I fall in love with it. Not to be too dramatic, but it's one of my favourite scores probably ever.

When I saw Avatar again last week, there was a father with two young children sat about 3 seats away from me, who made it about 30 minutes into the film before their attention spans disappeared and they started kicking the seats in front of them. The father completely ignored them for at least 10 minutes, and then proceeded to take a huge ipad out of his bag, with the screen on maximum brightness for the entire cinema to see, and his kids began playing games...with the sound on. After telling them to politely stfu (I said exactly that), the kids stopped playing, BUT THEN the father actually, yes, this is true, got out his phone and made a fu**ing phone call mid film... and was talking louder and louder whenever the film got louder, because of course how disrespectful of James Cameron to make his film too loud for him to hear his conversation. I was absolutely blood-boilingly insane that I would've happily spent my life in prison to silence this man for the rest of time.

Absolutely, totally with you. If it was up to me -
The concession stands wouldn't sell 'noise-making' food.
The auditoriums would have phone-jamming tech installed (sorry, but if you're in some sort of 'potential emergency' situation where you need to be constantly reachable then what are you even DOING at the movies? And social media can wait until the film is over before hearing your doubtless amazing insights on it).
Talking would get you thrown out without a refund.
Babies shouldn't be allowed in to anything other than specified parent and baby screenings, because otherwise they inevitably freak out at some point and start screaming the place down.
And on that theme ... kids wouldn't be allowed to have massive-sized soft drinks that their undersized bladders can't cope with, then they wouldn't need to be taken out to the toilet every fifteen fucking minutes.
No admission after the movie has started. Get there on time or forget it, dickhead.
Reacting to the content of the movie itself is of course absolutely fine. But everything I've detailed above isn't, and utterly boils my piss. -

I heard that some cinema chains aren't showing the HFR version. So not sure if it's definitely all showings worldwide, or a mix and match of different formats.

I just saw it. And I have to say it was incredible. The picture quality was oustanding (although I don't know how much the 3D added, but maybe that is because I'm not a fan of it overall).
I hadn't seen the film in around 12 years and I'd never seen it in the cinema, because I wasn't born yet😌. So this was so cool to see it on a big screen. I had goosebumps multiple times (when the shio takes off, The King Of World scene, tge iceberg scene, the final moments of the ship) and I cried (when Nearer My God To Thee plays and the older couple lie together on the bed).
Kate Winslet & Leonardo DiCaprio are both so great in this and their chemistry is off the charts.
I just had an incredible experience
I heard it's in a higher frame rate. Is that true?

Are they? Their website still shows them as Pre-Sale for me with the disclaimer "***PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A PRE ORDER: SHIP DATE TBC***".
If they're available but they haven't updated the info on the listing yet idk if I would trust them personally.
You could try reaching out more publicly on their socials perhaps if you're having no luck with email.
I just saw them available elsewhere and the release date was last month, so I have no idea really. It's just a panic thing, like 'wait a minute, am I actually getting them or what?' Especially if they sell out and I can't get them anywhere else.

Can anyone help with Invada records info?
I need to know if they're legitimate or just stole my money.
I bought Stranger Things 4 CD's months ago and was waiting, considering they weren't available yet, but now they are and I haven't received any update at all. Also when I tried to email them, it wouldn't send, saying it was an invalid email address.
So basically I have no idea if the CD's are even going to come now, and the CD's everywhere else are selling out fast, and I don't want to miss it.

Just seen it. Very charming love of cinema showcased throughout. Adored the scenes of him making his childhood films, and when he showed them to his family and others. You can see the awe in the performances as the art and power of cinema are on show. A very personal story of his parents not in the usual sentimental Spielberg way, but more honest and complex.
And that final shot was just...perfect.

Simon Franglen's AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER (2022)

I love that he said the main musical thing he learned from Horner was to not be afraid of a theme and to really go big and explore it, because man does Franglen utterly excel at thematic writing and development in this score.
