And with that, the actual expansions of the Indiana Jones scores produced by Mike Matessino have just been postponed... To 2081!

Whoever is still alive for the 100th anniversary of Raiders and not been enslaved by despotic AI or selected to help on the Mars Terraforming project will be able to buy it using neural-quantic bitcoins.

ASM will be f*cking proud that she's made it to the slipcase of a complete OST edition.

After all this drama, looks like Disney is releasing a 5-disc boxset in March 2024 containing all the Indy soundtrack albums, including Dial of Destiny.

Yes, it's $150, but that's still less than the DoD CD alone is going for right now:

You can see the tracklistings on the image if you zoom.

The CDs for the first three films are the 2008 Concord expansions

The CD for the fourth film is the normal 2008 album.

They're dropping the fifth disc from the Concord set, with the additional cues.

The fifth disc in this set will be the regular Dial of Destiny album, identical to the OOP standalone album.

Yes. A big-budget movie musical not so much about penises but about dickheads, (although there is a fallen vagina), and the two lead brothers are not only gay but have the hots for each other. God even gets a cameo, because nothing screams "gay incest" more than God turning up.

At least for an album of that scale.

Disney should rename the shop into "Disney Music Embarrassment".

Do dreams with other composers count? Because two nights ago I had a dream that I was a character in a suspense thriller directed by Kenneth Branagh with one of the weirdest music credits I've ever seen:

Themes and Ideas by Hans Zimmer and Ludwig Göransson, Original Score Produced and Written by Danny Elfman

The way I see it is that we know Ross wrote Pulse of the City because he is credited as its writer in the end credits. From that article we know that he also wrote The Airport cue that was replaced by JW's version because the protracted production afforded JW a generous time frame. For some reason, Pulse of the City wasn't replaced by a JW cue. Perhaps JW didn't have the time to write a new cue or maybe everyone involved was perfectly happy with Ross's music.

Based on the Pulse of the City credit for Ross in the end credits, I think it is reasonable to assume that had any more Ross composed cues remained in the final cut, they would also have been credited to Ross. I think it is also reasonable to assume that the OST was produced to only include cues composed by JW because Pulse of the City was excluded.

I am open to the idea that Ross arranged the material from the other movies but they are still JW compositions.

No I don’t, but it’s his career and he decides what movie he wants to score and not even he has control over his own creativity. He could have stopped at MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA, now that would have been a great swan song. But I’m glad he didn’t, because he has since written ‘Rey’s Theme’ which has become one of my favorite JW themes.

At the end of the day I believe it doesn’t matter what his last score is. All that matters is his body of work.
Like people have been discussing for 21 years who wrote what in Chamber of Secrets.
To which they have all the right without being mocked and ridiculed by others. After all @TolkienSSisn’t saying that JW is a pedophile or that he sexually abused Daisy Ridley (he wishes - Joking!!!).

I agree, that it’s not elegant, let’s put it that way, to “accuse” John Williams of something nobody has any evidence of.
And yes, of all the places, let’s not accuse JW of copying or plagiarizing or using ghosts here. I’m not angry with anyone who does, but I don’t find it elegant. It’s something they should do on the Hans Zimmer forum. ;-)

Anyway, let’s stop talking about John Williams’ swan song and William Ross, and let’s try to focus on John Williams who at almost 92 is still working hard probably at this very instant composing a new work. And ain’t that a miracle all by itself? I believe it is. And I give thanks for it.

Well, it has a crack in the front case, but that doesn't matter at this point.

Thanks for posting this video.  For whatever reason I hadn't listened to any of War Horse in a while, and just checking out this great action cue for the first time in a while really hit me nicely.  What a cool cue in a wonderful score!

Speaking of the tenth decade... Williams namedropping Lauren Bacall of the 1940s fame is as if someone of my gen were to mention Emma Watson in 2089. We will all be soylent green by that point

Dial of Destiny was John Williams' biggest mistake in an almost impeccable career.
May it be his duty, ego, or pride, he put a blemish on a near ideal end of his film career.

History is chock full of great men and artists who held on for too long. Williams shouldnt be one of them.
