rough cut reacted to a good little monkey in The Custom Covers Thread
Okay, here's what I got. I tried framing it the way it is in the mock up but I couldn't quite get it to work that way. If anyone wants to try to make a better version, by all means! I've also added my remake of the Volume Five cover as well, shoutout to whoever made the original.

Well, TBH, I purchased S:TM back in 2019.
So yes, it should contain the original soundtrack in its original surround mix.
Oh, the memories… Just haven’t come ’round yet to watching it, that’s why it’s still unopened.
Scandinavian indeed. Swedish, as a matter of fact.

That's great, thanks. Now all one needs to do is to transpose some of the fonts of the existing four volumes (well, 5 if you count the unofficial Sobel one) onto that cover. You know, sorta like this -- only with transparent backgrounds for the logos, and obviously change 'one' with 'six' and the composer name, and to make it an even square resolution (not 500x530 like this). Alas, this is where my feeble Photoshop skills stop.

rough cut got a reaction from Tom Guernsey in The best Star Wars music, ranked (Entertainment Weekly)
Look at it this way. Youngsters who maybe aren’t into soundtracks in general but are Star Wars fans - maybe even lured into the franchise by the Disney+ hypemachine - will feel affirmation when “their” shows are on the list, i.e. The Mandalorian, Book Of Boba Fett, Kenobi and Andor.
From there it might entice them to click a link that leads to a cue from the “traditional” soundtracks.
Any other agenda behind this list is bull.
So, all good in the hood if this list introduces any new fans to our John.

Is it a used copy? If yes, and it’s from a couple of years ago, chances are good it’s still on there.
From what I understand, the audio track has also been removed from the standalone editions so the removal is not just limited to the newly released box set.

Two great shows to look forward to.
Foundation S1 was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. In my mind I compare it with the movie Dune (2021) and Foundation is the better option.
Futurama is always good. I identify with Bender a lot. Don’t ask me why.

rough cut got a reaction from Naïve Old Fart in TV Series You Should See But Probably Haven't
Hey! I recognize the title of this thread!
OK, so I am going to recommend a thing that I suspect JWfaners are not likely to have seen - a TV serie you should see but probably haven't - so how about this old gem:
I, Claudius (1976) IMDb
This one is great. Obviously, the tempo is different than any modern TV show, which at times can be frustrating, but it’s not a classic story for not. Well worth your time.
Don’t try to talk to youngsters about it though. This kid at work asked me what series I liked, and after I said “I, Claudius” he replied “Oh, about Apple. Cool.”
Huh?
After some confusion I figured out he thought I had said “iCloud” and had no idea who Claudius was or what he did or when he lived due to being a kid and we all know that kids don’t know anything these days.

It's pretty good. It has that stagey feel many Hollywood epics of the day had. If you've seen the Oliver Henry V, for example, you'll know what I'm talking about...i.e. at times you'll feel you're watching a stage production. Which makes sense b/c this is actually an adaptation of the stage play. If you can get past that, and enjoy historical epics, I'd say it's worth a watch.

I love Fanny and Alexander.
I usually play the first episode of the TV version, around Christmas. It can stand on its own as a Christmas film.
I've seen L'avventura, don't remember much, but I remember I kind of liked the mystery of the first part of the film, but was a bit bored in the second part.
Haven't seen the others.

One film I do recommend is Dino Risi's Il Sorpasso.
I watch it every summer. It's a quintessential road movie with Vittorio Gasman in a great role.
Synopsis from imdb:
An impulsive braggart takes a shy law student with him for a two-day road trip from Rome to Tuscany.
I have the Criterion edition
but I see Radiance in UK will release a new 4k restoration in August (along with 2 other Risi films).

Yup. Genuine classic. No bias at all, simply because I enjoy a certainty category of movies of the “Deep Blue Sea”-genre. Nope. No sir, not here.
Hrm, yes… well. There it is. A classic. As Thor said.
But it’s a fun pic to watch, so much so that I even tracked down an old OOP BD so I can watch it whenever I want. God bless technology.

wait i may have understood the other thread in reverse
here's where my mind has been lately:
El milagro de P. Tinto (1998): an old classic
The Blacksmith and the Devil (Errementari) (2017): folk stuff about demons (folklore enthusiasts may recognize the English title from other versions)
The Endless Trench (La trinchera infinita) (2019): terrifying
All the Moons (Ilargi guztiak) (2020): a very good vampire drama.
Alcarràs (early 2022): another drama, the photography is great, the cast too.
The Beasts (As bestas) (late 2022): a tri-lingual western. nice setting, even though it's a bit "the generic northwest" in some ways.
Irati (late 2022 but released the next year): kind of like Excalibur, but small. reminds me of The Secret of Kells too.

rough cut reacted to Jay in What is the last Television series you watched?
The Night Of
Started out FANTASTIC, fizzled out fairly quickly. The first episode is certainly one of the best and most well done television episodes of 2016, full of twists and turns, great acting, and an intriguing premise. Unfortunately, it doesn't take long for things to begin to draaaaaag out after that, characters to make stupid, nonsensical decisions, and the focus to shift on way less interesting things that the first episode would lead you to think the show would be about. The show also spend WAYYYYYY too much time focusing on John Turturro's foot problems, sheesh!
The absolute best character was the detective played by Bill Camp! I hadn't seen this actor before and he was so so good in his role, especially in the first few episodes. It was crazy that they didn't find anything for him to do the entire middle of the season, but at least he got involved a lot at the end again. The next best character was the DA played by Jeannie Berlin, a pretty interesting character I thought. The female lawyer who gets the hots for Nasir was such a stupid storyline, and all the prison crap with Michael Kenneth Williams got way too much screentime and was way too predictable and cliched.
Overall a mixed bag that starts out AMAZING, gets borderline craptacular for the whole middle, and is pretty much saved by a pretty decent finish. I think if the creative team can come up with a great, more focused storyline for season 2 with another great cast, HBO could have something pretty special here.

Fantastic photography and a fantastic John Torturro.

Finally added this one to the collection. It's not the original OST, as I never really found any interest in having those classical pieces butchered like they did on the OST.
Instead, this collection features the original tracks, but in their complete form.
Then I loved the cover

This is a pretty good video, largely about why Snyder was just all wrong (bad director casting you could say) for the character of Superman (I agree Batman was a better fit for him):
