A24 got a reaction from Sweeping Strings in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
Cine Savoy in Antwerp, a long time ago.

A24 reacted to Jay in What is the last Television series you watched?
I can't imagine it will end up vastly different from season 1, so I'd say if you liked season 1 watch season 2, if you didn't, don't

I think we once had a cinema called Savoy too.

Wasn't sure where else to put these pics ... I spent last week on holiday in Nottingham, and one evening I went to this Art Deco cinema for a screening of Terminator 2 -

Jaws is good because it isn't about sharks, just like The Edge isn't about a bear.

A24 got a reaction from Holko in Slant's Top 100 Sci-Fi Movies Of All Time
Only on JWfan!
I mean, I thought it was funny, but if I was a hardcore Star Wars fan, my world would have been over.

It's baffling to me how you guys don't see the ridiculousness of that scene, how Luke was fishing with that ridiculous harpoon, the way he got there, and how it was filmed and all. That whole scene felt like a comedy show making fun of Star Wars. A parody!
And you take it all so very seriously! Saying how dark it was ..

A24 reacted to Thor in Slant's Top 100 Sci-Fi Movies Of All Time
(Most of) the RESIDENT EVIL films are great -- and highly underrated as a mythological creation -- but they pale in comparison to EVENT, which IMO is one of the best films of the 90s regardless of genre.

A24 got a reaction from Chen G. in Slant's Top 100 Sci-Fi Movies Of All Time
Star Wars is filled with robots and yet it's Fantasy. It's Lord Of The Rings put in space.
Well, I agree. I've always been was a bit baffled with why that movie is considered to be one of the best sci-fi works ever made. Not that it's bad, mind you, but to rank it amongst the very best science fiction movies?! Heck, can we even call it sci-fi?
Maybe it arrived at 101? Personally, if I was Slant, I would have forgotten about it too.
Slant ... Alex Slant.

A24 got a reaction from Bespin in What is the last Television series you watched?
That series is a joke, created by CSI people.

A24 got a reaction from Chen G. in What are your favorite shots in a movie?
I know. I think that A Passage To India is very much a journey exploring conflicting cultures, colonialism and the impact of the social class system. It's very 'lively' which is quite unusual for David Lean but very typical for E.M. Forster (Howard's End, A Room With A View). I suspect there was a change in Lean's style and that he avoided long, slow, spectacular landscape shots because the critics had completely crushed his previous film (Ryan's Daughter).

It's been awhile since I've seen Ryan's Daughter but I remember an endless but spectacular storm sequence, spectacular landscapes and a spectacularly beautiful bus scene.

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Nice looking, stylish and pleasant again, but kind of tiringly cutesy and quirky for me, I think. Cimbalom+balalaika is a nice touch for the score!

Of course, just like you prefer Return Of The Jedi.

It's like sitting in a cockpit of an airplane/aeroplane. Perhaps that's the reason why these retro amps are back in vogue?

A24 got a reaction from Jurassic Shark in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
Avengers: Endgame
This record-breaking blockbuster felt like just another comic book. It didn't jump out above the one before or the one that's coming out next. In fact, it might be one of the weaker ones. When a movie fails to grab you, nothing it shows makes really impact. And isn't that why we watch movies? To feel something? 5/10

A24 reacted to Jurassic Shark in What Is The Last Score You Listened To? (older scores)
Of course!
There's also an album release for the second and third season, but that's only available digitally as a download. It's not as good either, since main composer Phipps left the series.
