Indiana Jones had less hassle getting his hands on the Golden Idol than most people here trying to get the latest score on CD...

It did, but the CD sold out rather quickly and was only available through disneymusicemporium.com. The vinyl is still available there.

The fury is because they never said it was exclusive and never said it was limited. So people didn’t order, expecting it to turn up at other retailers.

These eBay sellers are doing absolutely nothing wrong, assuming they're selling the legit pressed CD.  They have a product that's in high demand and are attempting to sell it to the highest bidder.  Plain and simple.

Count me in the group of people who last month or so put in my cart ready to order, saw the shipping cost, then decided to wait and see if Amazon was going to sell it with free shipping in August. And then, if Amazon or anywhere else with cheaper shipping didn't, just go ahead and pay for the excessive shipping from Disney Music Emporium. Nowhere did I see "limited" anywhere, and stunned to see it gone. More stunned to find people all as stunned as I was.

Quite frankly, I'm appalled like I see many of you are as well. I don't post very often like I used to and tend to only log in when something big pops up, but those that know me know I'm a John Williams Soundtrack/Score CD completionist and 45+ years of collecting Williams soundtracks and a completionist on JW score CDs for over 30+ years comes to an end... because Disney --  especially in the last decade or so -- seems to be masters at biting the hands that feed them! Zero sense in what they did here.

Ah; some enterprising soul in Ontario is asking a much more "reasonable" price of only $1,191: https://www.ebay.com/itm/186032282344

Emporium gave it to him in 2023.  That CD is an important artifact.  It belongs in a JWFan members collection.

I agree.  I had no idea what to expect but damn, the film score just sounds fantastic.  No matter what type of cue it is or what type of instrument is being featured, it consistently sounds just terrific.

Hahah sorry Chris. That was my ode to my favorite B-Movie actress crush. She has a bit part in the film (which is the biggest film she was in), but if you want to see a true 70s foxy lady, check out Pets or Hollywood Boulevard (before you venture into Chatterbox )

Heheh. I’d forgotten about Yes Giorgio, So I ordered it. So I guess NOW I’m complete.

This was one of (if not definitively) my most wanted expanded/remastered scores!!! We basically had nothing except the OST, which I love. So thrilled to get it. Listening to it now... the remastered OST is excellent -- hearing stuff I never noticed before, and the film score is a welcome full CD length! Been waiting to crack open the recent Blu-Ray of it after I become more familiar with the film score (very familiar with the album). Absolutely LOVE it!
What the?! That's not for real, is it?! Fooled me for a sec! Hade me scrambling to Target's site,
Yeah, it's been a goal of mine since the 1990s to have every CD release of all of Williams' scores. And I don't sell the OSTs when a new expanded/remaster comes out, either.  I used to get even re-pressings with different covers and such, but I had to draw a line somewhere for my sanity's sake.

The hardest ones to get for me were the 'Yes, Giorgio' OST and the original pressing of the 'SpaceCamp' CD (before Stefancos turned to evil, he helped me find that one!). It kind of stuns me when I hear 'Goodbye Mr. Chips' is so hard to get, now?

I forgot where I read it, but I read an interview or saw a video in which Williams described the Jaws period as a very difficult period of his life (obviously it was considering what happened), and I think he also said something along the lines of he could have spent more time with his children.

Was he very productive, though?  In the 1 year period from March 74 to March 75, he worked on the violin concerto, then wrote/recorded Earthquake -> Towering Inferno -> Eiger Sanction -> Jaws.

4 scores within 12 months seems about his normal pace throughout the 70s, no?

After Jaws, 9 whole months would pass until he recorded his next score (Midway).
