Jay 37,380
Johnny didn't have time write cues for the final battle in Attack of The Clones or rewrite other cues to match the final picture because he had to do Minority Report for SpielbergThat same year, he didn't have time to finish writing and then conduct and record Chamber of Secrets because he had to do Catch Me If You Can for SpielbergIn 2004, the Prisoner Of Azkaban cues were all written to an earlier, longer cut of the film, as evidenced by how cut down they all are in the final film, because he had to do The Terminal for SpielbergThen in 2005, they had to purposely plan on tracking in music from TPM and AOTC into some scenes in Revenge of the Sith because he had to do War Of The Worlds for Spielberg. The clashes with the Star Wars movies are especially odd considering how good friends Georgie and Spielberg are... Trent B 337
Actually someone named Valentinice posted this recently on FSM...I have it on VERY RELIABLE sources that Williams did indeed compose a "major action cue" for the arena battle "Clones", but the scene became so hacked up and changed that the music no longer fit. That's when the decision to track it with previously recorded music was made. I learned this information very recently after running into someone who worked on the scoring.I don't know any more details, but I will do my best to find out more.I asked him if he was sure if it wasn't the "Love Pledge / The Arena" he was thinking about and he replied to this.I'm positive. Jeff's (understandable) sarcasm aside, I was told it was a "major action cue" that was to play over a majority of the arena battle sequences that were ultimately replaced with tracked music. Not sure why none of it made it to the video games (although it may be there and we haven't noticed it).As I said, take it how you will. I hope to get some more details over the Holiday breaIf this is true...I'd love to hear that music.Edit: Then in 2005, they had to purposely plan on tracking in music from TPM and AOTC into some scenes in Revenge of the Sith because he had to do War Of The Worlds for Spielberg.I doubt the schedule for War Of The Worlds had anything to do with it. It was determined from the very beginning those scenes were going to have tracked music instead of new music, probably because they were mostly CG and they weren't gonna be finished in time for the spotting sessions took place for the score. Valentinice 20
Hi Everyone!I'm not a liar - as is my reputation on FSM - and I hope to find out more details soon. I want to get to the bottom of this just as much as you guys.
King Mark 3,631
That's not the story we got at the time of the release of AotC , and it was even said there was nothing recorded for those scenes by those who follow these things closely (like John Takis)

The score to CoS as a whole suffers, I give you that, but it's still a top-notch effort considering the short time he had for writing it.I love MR, but I still prefer AotC over it. Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
Even back in 1997, when Williams was probably going to re-score scenes for the Special Editions (we've seen the interview about the Imperial March), Spielberg came out with two movies that year after a 3 or 4 year directing hiatus. So Williams was only able to do a half assed Ewok celebration while they used tracked music for the rest of the scenes.

Bryant Burnette 654
Well, practically anything he wrote prior to 1969 might be a good candidate. And he wrote a lot of scores prior to 1969. Few, if any, of them are better than either Attack of the Clones or Chamber of Secrets. But neither Attack of the Clones nor Chamber of Secrets are as good as either Minority Report or Catch Me If You Can (especially the latter).
