How the hell have there been 4 Scorpion King movies?!

I was vaguely aware of a sequel which didn't have Dwayne Johnson, but is there really a market for 2 more?

I saw the second one and thought it was lame. I never realized there was a 3 and 4 as well never bothered with them.

Coming next Tuesday, January 23, 2015 from La-La Land Records
The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power
Music by Geoff Zanelli
Limited Edition of 1500 units
LLLCD 1339
Retail Price: $15.98
Produced by Geoff Zanelli and MV Gerhard
Mastered by Patricia Sullivan at Bernie Grundman Mastering
Art Direction by Dan Goldwasser
La-La Land Records and Backlot Music present the cd soundtrack album for The Scorpion King 4: Quest for Power, Universal Picture’s action/adventure feature starring Victor Webster and Lou Ferrigno. This massive orchestral soundtrack features 20 new score cues by Emmy Award-winning composer Geoff Zanelli (“Into the West” miniseries).
Zanelli has become a standout in the film and television scoring industry, garnering accolades and recognition for his work since going solo after numerous collaborations with Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer.
Zanelli had a fond experience working with director Mike Elliot, saying, “What gives this movie its identity and sets it apart is the way it uses humor to challenge the clichés and gender stereotypes that can keep a fantasy film from feeling fresh, or fun, or original.” With respect to the score, he goes on to say, “I tried to imbue the score with gravitas and play to the epic nature of the story. But whenever I’d start to get pretentious or too self-important, my director [Elliot] would say something like, ‘Geoff, please don’t forget that there are two grown women in tattered clothes having a cage fight in this movie.’ There’s a dragon, too.”
About the film:
Join an exciting new chapter in the action-packed series from the Producers of The Mummy! After the king of Norvania is assassinated, the legendary Scorpion King Mathayus is framed for the crime and must fight off an entire kingdom of soldiers. Now Mathayus (Victor Webster) and his only remaining allies, a mysterious woman and her unconventional father, are the last hope to stop the evil heir to the throne on his quest for an ancient and almighty mystical power. Featuring Lou Ferrigno (The Incredible Hulk) and an all-star cast of fighters, including Roy “Big Country” Nelson (Winner of The Ultimate Fighter), Royce Gracie (UFC Hall of Fame) and Don Wilson (Three-time World Kickboxing Champion).
The first 150 or so customers who purchase the cd directly through the La-La Land website will receive a signed booklet autographed by the composer. As always, this is based on a first come first served basis and you are not guaranteed a signed copy.

The sound has been cleaned up as well as some edits fixed for this version. Mike went through the Varese version and really tweaked it to his and our liking.
Is it worth the upgrade? Of course it is (I'm biased), but if you have the Varese version then there really is no need to buy this unless you want Jeff's new notes and Jim's gorgeous package...wait, that came out wrong.
You know what I mean!

Trent is correct

Any particular reason why the new tracks are added as a bonus after the original album presentation?

That's the way Mr Beltrami wanted it produced. He likes the original album as is and felt that there was no need to release the complete score. He did allow us to add some bonus material and remaster the original album.

Not every composer is against the C&C presentation. I haven't seen the film for awhile but I always thought the album was essentially complete. Maybe there wasn't much to add to an expansion/remaster.

EDIT: Never mind.

It's kind of an odd month with the first being on a Friday and our next release being next Tuesday. We only have 2 release dates in May, but 3 in June...so June will be a busy month.

We are still waiting on a number of titles to get the final sign off on. Some of you have noticed that our catalog numbers are all over the place. That's due to some titles (a few that were supposed to come out in 2014) taking some time to be signed off on for one reason or another.

LLLCD 1331 - waiting on actor approval of image (a pet project of mine)

LLLCD 1333 - waiting on studio approval (Golden Age Classic)

LLLCD 1335 - waiting on production company approval (even though we have the record label and studio singed off on this one). Missed the anniversary last year. Very frustrating.

LLLCD 1350 - waiting on actor/director/producer approval, then studio and record company approval. MEGA HUGE IMPORTANT RELEASE!!!!!

LLLCD 1353 - waiting on studio approval (JW release)

So, we have thousands and thousands of dollars tied up with these projects and have no product to show for them yet. It's the part of this biz that can nearly break one's spirit, but we keep on truckin'.

Since I am playing hooky on Friday May 1, here y'all go:

Mr Grusin is even signing THE FIRM. Very excited by this release (we were waiting on Mr Cruise to sign off on the package all this time. Despite what some of you might think of him he is a dedicated professional who is very hands on with his films. I really do admire him for that. He was the same way with Days of Thunder. It's refreshing to see a star of his caliber be so passionate about even a soundtrack release.)

Nice that Commando fans can get their 3rd helping of the score.

But I think I'll pass and wait for the JW score that is now waiting for studio approval. Hurry up!
