Seasons 1 and 2 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic were scored by William Anderson and Kristopher Gee. There was at least one or two other ghostwriter composers involved, but these two did the bulk of the underscore work.

Will Anderson used to perform in Weird Al Yankovic's band; he did the music for Biker Mice from Mars as well as a number of 90s and 2000s Marvel animated TV shows. He also wrote and performed the Earthworm Jim TV series theme. Will and Weird Al are still friends today; several of the guitar underscore pieces for MLP was performed on Al's tour bus.

I'm "shoving it into people's faces"? How, exactly? By posting a few threads about it on FSM and bumping them every once in a while when something new comes up? By responding to people whenever they bring up the subject without my instigation to correct them about false information? Isn't that what everyone on the internet does?

It's not like I'm holding a gun to people's heads demanding that they click on and read everything I post (though they certainly should as they would be better educated).

If anything, the collective of FSM and film score fandom in general is shoving Star Trek / Star Wars into people's faces trying to get it noticed and accepted. An FSM board search yields the following:

There is such thing as a healthy obsession, but I don't think what I've seen in display is one. Steef was being sarcastic about the pedo thing. Perhaps others were, but I stay away from FSM because of the intolerant assholes. Perhaps you should too? Cyber bullying isn't really an issue if you can simply stop visiting the site.

I don't care if he was being sarcastic, making it a joke about it doesn't make it any less disgusting of a thing to say, in fact it makes it MORE revolting. I'd like to know how people turn those cog wheels inside their heads to automatically generate the idea in their minds that gee, watching a cartoon indicates wanting to hang around actual children, or wanting anything to do with them, nevermind sexually violating them, because if they're the ones who so much as process the very thought of it, logical deduction and reasoning concludes that THEY are the ones who have pedophilia on their mind. Leaving a place one has every right to be in while the rest pollute the environment with their toxic is basically saying "I don't want to make this place better for myself and everyone else, and I don't want to shame those who did wrong and deserve to be outed", essentially throwing up the white flag by allowing the bullies to win and consume it all.

I am not going to allow that to happen so long as I'm around.

What's worse is that the "chill" people are advocating the behavior of the bullies by refusing to intervene. They might as well be cheering them on and egging the victims by remaining neutral by default. You don't show up to the scene of a crime as an officer and not interrogate the witnesses who saw it happen and didn't do squat.

So while I hold zero respect for bullies, I similarly want nothing to do with bystanders who won't help fend them off because they care more about their own social standing than maintaining a happy and welcoming environment.

Pacific Rim by Ramin Djawadi

I'm not going to lie, I'm having fun with this one. Not the smartest, most sophisticated score on the block, but that was never what this score was going for. Djawadi brings to this film what the folks at Remote Control (including Djawadi until now) so often fail to do with their blockbusters. Style.

It's no Tron Legacy (nothing like it), but it is a fun take on the RC formula.

Tron Legacy - Daft Punk

I just never stop finding new things to appreciate about this score. The blending of the orchestral cues with the electronics are simply divine, and neither tries to emulate the other but gives each other a chance to shine. For dance club musicians to do something this impressive, like the string ostinatos in "Outlands", the beautiful "Adagio to Tron" or the big powerful "Finale" -- it's quite something. More power to director Joseph Kosinski for giving them plenty of time to compose and refine the score.

Hope I'm not the only one who hopes Daft Punk scores another film...

It's one of my most listened to scores in recent memory. I was floored that it was as good as it was when I first heard it. I had a cursory knowledge and appreciation of Daft Punk beforehand but they weren't really my thing. After hearing Legacy I have a completely new found admiration for them. I really hope they do another score soon.

Now that I've posted plenty of evidence on how great the show and its music is, you're going to scroll past all of it because a) you're scared of losing social capital by having your "friends" turn against you if they find out you so much as sampled just a teensy smidge of entertainment that inflicts harm to no one whatsoever, and b) you can't take 30 minutes or an hour out of your day to educate yourself and sample some great music.

Five years from now when My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic has spread farther and farther into mainstream culture, the only embarrassment around here will be from you and everyone else in film score fandom at how right I am.

Everyone has the privilege (NOT a right) of expressing an opinion on whether or not the show is bad, its music is bad, or its fandom is bad, after they have watched the show, listened to its music, or participated in its fandom.

But I've been posting on the same forum as him for 15 years, and you barely know him. You're welcome to still want an apology from him - don't drag me into it, I'm backing away from this all.

To be clear: Nobody here thinks you're a pedophile, Lucas. I'm glad you like your show, and you are welcome to start a thread to discuss it's music here on our forum. No one will give you a hard time in it. (If they do, I'll take care of them).

People who develop a sort of fetischistic obession with what, as far as I'm concerned, is a TV show aimed at girls under the age of 10 are either creepy or have suffered a stunted emotional development and are in many ways immature. Much like Michael Jackson never grew up because of physical and mental abuse suffered as a child.

If I were to meet this Basil would probably deduce in what catagory he falls in mere minutes. As it stands, my judgement remains open.

Though sexual predators are usually less eager to share, having a notion that what they are doing is wrong. Something our specimen here seems to lack.

If I were a brony, i certainly would not admit it on an open forum. Hell i'd admit to jacking off to tranny porn before doing that!

Been listening to some good ole' physical CDs in my car lately instead of podcasts, since many of those were on break to end the year. Was nice to finally take the shrinkwrap off some purchases!

John Williams - Home Alone (La-La Land)

The definitive presentation of the score. I've been listening to this score every Christmas forever, but there's no reason to return to the original OST, the LLL release has it all and works from the start of the CD to the end as a perfect listening experience. I like starting it off with the two songs and having the Insert in the bonus track section. Still amazed by that alternate finale!

John Williams - Home Alone 2 (La-La Land)

Also the definitive presentation, I think this is better than the Varese 2CD version. I love starting off with the two songs, and the additional source music cues included are terrific - love the light piano versions of Christmas classics. Now, this is a score I never had the original OST of, so I first heard it via the Varese Deluxe, and I never loved it as much as the first score. I think it was just too long, it was too much score to get into all at once. It's different when you start with the highlights then get the complete years later. However, over the years I've now listened to this score enough times that I no longer think it's too long, I really like the complete score all the way through.

BTW, did anyone notice the error on the back cover? The "BONUS TRACKS" moniker appears one track too later, making it look like the first source music track is the end of the main program rather than the start of the bonus tracks! The inside of the booklet doesn't make the same mistake.

Ramin Djawadi - Game of Thrones Season 3

I still don't think this is great all the way through, but the highlights are superb. Here's hoping season 4 is his best score yet!

Meh. I can see it working very well in film (which I haven't seen), but its very workman-like, which is a common problem for Beltrami's scores. Far too much a reliance on his general filler music textures to really enjoy it. There are some really nice cues though that offer a glimpse of what this score could have been, like "Take My Place", "This is the Beginning" and "Yona Lights". To be honest, I personally think all the elements are here, but what this score lacks is real style. He really could have pushed it and brought out something fun or "cool", but it instead drowns in its own murkiness. An average 3 star score I guess, if only for the highlights.

Its good!

I think it's one of Powell's best works ever. So engaging and exciting. I prefer the trifecta of "Building Bridges"."Shock and No Oars" and "Attack on Alcatraz" myself -- as well as the climatic "The Battle of the Cure" and "Phoenix Rises".
