Why not?

The crawl will probably talk about Kylo Ren, the resistance, The new plot etc...

Yeah.. like it should do.

But since one or two days have happened after the destruction of the starkiller...

[Ext. Starry night]

STAR WARS

Episode VII

Space Bear

It is a time of civil War. The Resistance

just won it's first victory against the

GREAT CELEBRATORY HANGOVER.

Rey has arrived to ACH-TOO (bless you!)

and has found Luke Skywalker

in order to start her Jedi Training.

Meanwhile, Kylo Ren just arrived to Snoke's

lair to complete his training. The first

order is licking its wounds and developing

the schematics to a NEW SUPERWEAPON

on incommensurable power...

That's pretty lame and it does not tell us anything we didnt knew already...

I want that the taxation of trade routes makes a comeback into the larger politics of Star Wars films!

How do you know only one or two days passed?

And sand! It's rough, coarse and irritating and gets everywhere. But we love it in Star Wars!

Older but not wiser! And perhaps he'll bring his son Baxter the Hippster.

yes yes yes. It could be more days, even months. But having that big time lapse at the end of the film, while the rest of the footage happens in like 3-5 days would be weird. Since the moment they get the falcon (half the film) is like 1-2 days.

And the fucking urgency of finding Luke Skywalker that the whole movie is about.

Come on people are still struggling (after 40 years) believing Luke's training on Dagobah could be several weeks, so do not tell me this now.

It's never been a problem in the previous Star wars films.

They never look like several days happen in travels, even if they truly spend that much time.

And by the way, when the map is completed an hyperspace lane is drawn. Luke's traveling route. It's already mapped then.

It's just stupid to explain in the opening crawl something that happened before the previous film ended. It is legitimate to have a diluted span of time between strakiller's destruction and the film end. But the next film, for the crawl to make chronologically sense, should start somewhere in time AFTER rey shows the lightaseber to Luke.

Maybe they just want to eliminate the archaic title crawl once and for all...

The passage of time and how inconsistent it appears to be between the Luke/Yoda and the Han/Leia storylines has been a thing that has been pointed out about TESB for decades now.

There still is no definitive answer, other then "who gives a shit, the film is brilliant!"

shame that last line cannot apply for TFA.

Yes! By the time Luke finishes Rey's training, the First Order will have been defeated! That'd be an awesome twist at the end of Episode VIII! Everyone thought we'd get a trilogy, but in the end, we'll only get two.

That'd be neat, except for the fact that the Empire was defeated at the end of three movies but along came the First Order. Defeat the First Order, some new power will rise up to fill the void.

It could be just like The Hobbit with a pointless framing device at the beginning (Luke and Rey at the campfire) that's ignored for the rest of the movie.

Depending on what character(s) Finn is paired with for Episode 8, I could see a whole new theme representing Finn there
