Josh500 1,615
Which Goldsmith CDs do you have? Can you name & rate them?Recently, I saw the CDs of Congo, The 13th Warrior and Omen II in a used CD store. They sold for 5 to 8 Euros each. Should I get them?So far, I have Poltergeist and Basic Instinct. I like them a lot, although they can't possibly compare to a John Williams. Thanks. Olivier 5
I don't have them all (I'm missing a few-- regular releases, ie; I don't have that many, uh, unofficial ones), but it's stil wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to many to type.Sorry.So far, I have Poltergeist and Basic Instinct. I like them a lot, although they can't possibly compare to a John Williams. You're right, they're a lot better, but don't say it too loud here or you'll get yourself lynched! Which Goldsmith CDs do you have? Can you name & rate them? Recently, I saw the CDs of Congo, The 13th Warrior and Omen II in a used CD store. They sold for 5 to 8 Euros each. Should I get them? All three are good. Congo is not exceptional, but it has a nice theme, and good suspense & action. The 13th Warrior is very very good.Omen II / Damien: look for Varèse's Deluxe edition rather; it has more music (remastered, too), plus the original album. Should I get them? Thanks. If you liked "Dry Your Tears, Afrika" from Williams Amistad, you'll like "Spirit Of Africa" from Congo. I don't recall the rest what the rest of the score is like, but IMO that theme is worth the price of the disc.13th Warrior -- Love the first track, need to get to know the rest better. Omen 2, the delux CD has a great short little "snowmobile" piece.Personally it's my least fav Omen score, but its also the Omen score I know the least as well. I'd nominate it as a favourite for an SA-CD release. Damien: Omen II is a fine score, but the LA recording sounds so messy sometimes, performance and recording wise. It's the least balanced score in the trilogy, but still good if I'm in the mood for pure screaming satanic chants set to classic Goldsmith rhythms.
