Quintus 6,499 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Yeah, that'd be lovely actually. But the former would work, if need be. Still, it wouldn't be the same
Jay 46,244 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 That could actually turn out to be the deciding factor whether Williams signs up or not. Apparently he doesn't like long haul flights anymore. He could send someone to conduct the score for him in London, like William Ross did in COS. Or maybe he'll decide to do a last farewell trip to the UK and conduct the LSO one last time, for old times sake...Williams Ross conducted HPCOS because Williams had to stay in America to work on Catch Me If You Can. This time Williams ain't working on anything else.Of course, he hasn't flown internationally since '05 when he conducted ROTS in London.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 How do we know he hasn't vacationed in Europe?
Incanus 5,890 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 How do we know he hasn't vacationed in Europe? Oh we would know! We have Bothan agents everywhere!
Matt C 605 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 That could actually turn out to be the deciding factor whether Williams signs up or not. Apparently he doesn't like long haul flights anymore.Well, I thought Giacchino would record the John Carter score in the UK since it was filmed and some post-production work was done... but it was done in L.A.. I don't know if that was due to Andrew Stanton or Giacchino's insistence.
BLUMENKOHL 1,110 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 So our great lord and savior has a phobia of flying is really the issue.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 So our great lord and savior has a phobia of flying is really the issue.perhaps he's still hesitant after 911, wasn't he supposed to be on the flight from Boston?
Jay 46,244 Posted May 1, 2013 Posted May 1, 2013 Guys Williams still flies domestically all the time. He has flown to Massachusetts twice a year every year since 2005 for the May/June Symphony Hall and August Tanglewood concerts. He's done concerts in New York, Texas, etc etc.He just hasn't flown internationally to any of our knowledge.
Ollie 1,375 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Now that I've seen the Struzan inspired poster in a larger format, it looks creepy......
jacksparrow900 77 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I never thought I see in my life time I would see another Star Wars with the original cast. I'm just curious how many years this is going to be set after Return Of The Jedi. Being a big Star Wars fan not just the movies but also the expanded universe. Knowing theirs tons of stories that come after Episode VI. I would love to see Dark Empire made into a movie. I would like them to go back to the way the first three were made and not just use cgi. It worked for the first three and they hold up after all these years.
Brónach 1,330 Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I really like the variation on the Villain Ostinato in the eighth track.
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I think I've found your new desktop background: http://lizkatz.com/sexy-slave-leia/
Jay 46,244 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 They plan on starting filming early next year (duh!)http://collider.com/star-wars-episode-7-filming-2014-bryan-burk/
Matt C 605 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I still think this film won't make that initial summer 2015 date Disney promised (which is pretty broad and vague). J.J. Abrams won't start prep and casting until he's satisfied with the script. He's not going to half-ass it by rushing into things.Once Disney sets an actual date, whether it will be Memorial Day 2015 or whatever, we'll know for sure.
Jay 46,244 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 They really should just push it back to Summer 2016. Let Avengers 2 be their 2015 summer tentpole.~~~Mark Hamill shows up at a ROTJ screening and does a Q&A; says all the right thingshttp://screencrush.com/star-wars-episode-7-plot-mark-hamill/
Matt C 605 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 They really should just push it back to Summer 2016. Let Avengers 2 be their 2015 summer tentpole. And they have Pirates of the Caribbean 5 on tap for July 10, 2015 too. Overseas alone will make it profitable.
Jay 46,244 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 O right! So yea, Disney would be taking away their own ticket sales by releasing Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, and Pirates 5 in the same summer. One of those three will get pushed back to 2016
publicist 4,650 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 They make another one? Was the last one not embarrasment enough?
Jay 46,244 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Who cares about artistic merit when it makes a billion dollars? As long as Depp is interested they will keep churning these out
publicist 4,650 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Thank you, Captain Obvious! I just was under the impression that Depp and everyone involved found the last one bad enough, so i'm a bit surprised that he goes on with it. He's the Roy Scheider in JAWS 5.
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 O right! So yea, Disney would be taking away their own ticket sales by releasing Star Wars 7, Avengers 2, and Pirates 5 in the same summer. One of those three will get pushed back to 2016Either that, or it'll be a REALLY exciting summer! Was PotC 4 really considered to be that bad? I found it quite entertaining. Better than PotC 3 in any case, which seemed a bit confused on what it was trying to do.Still, it would be quite refreshing if they returned to the things that made the first film so entertaining and for crying out loud cut down on the fantasy and reuse of music from previous films!
publicist 4,650 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Or they could just take all the money and make a new movie. I'm aware that people crave sequels just like they crave oversugared soft drinks, but a fifth installment of a film based on a park ride is stretching it to the limits.
A24 5,156 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Have our local Star Wars geeks already expressed their joy concerning the yearly Star Wars movies? Are they celebrating it in true Star Wars fashion?
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 I do reckon the potential for good or at least fun PotC sequels is very much there. Liking seafaring and pirate movies very much, I would definitely welcome more of those.
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Well... Disney now has the rights to make "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Secret of Monkey Island".
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted May 7, 2013 Posted May 7, 2013 Thank you, Captain Obvious! I just was under the impression that Depp and everyone involved found the last one bad enough, so i'm a bit surprised that he goes on with it. He's the Roy Scheider in JAWS 5.Haven't you heard, Tracy Morgan is the new Roy Scheiderhttp://www.cinemablend.com/new/Universal-Planning-A-3D-Remake-Of-Jaws-With-Tracy-Morgan-16954.htmlthank God better senses prevailed.
Maurizio 6,913 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 http://starwars.com/news/star_wars_feature_film_production_returns_to_the_uk.htmlThis means the LSO will return too?
indy4 160 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I hope that doesn't deter JW from signing on. Maybe he could get William Ross to conduct or something.
Jay 46,244 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Anyone else starting to feel like JJ is more of a hired gun here and will have less creative input than the other movies he's directed?
Jill Sandwich 11,168 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 In England?? Fox Studios Australia needs the work!
Datameister 2,586 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Good news as far as I'm concerned! I hope that doesn't deter JW from signing on. Maybe he could get William Ross to conduct or something. Disney recently had Ross arrange and conduct new versions of classic Star Wars music for Star Tours in Tokyo Disneyland. And here's the kicker...they recorded with the LSO at Abbey Road! So this is not a far-fetched idea at all.

Once 1,084 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 He probably won't. He enjoys shooting them and he doesn't watch them.
Maurizio 6,913 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 I hope that doesn't deter JW from signing on. Maybe he could get William Ross to conduct or something.I'm sure JW is still able to travel across the ocean to conduct it himself.
A24 5,156 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 If not, there is always internet connection or satellite communication. Williams could be the first digital or virtual conductor in the universe.
crocodile 9,724 Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 I'm sure this is one thing he certainly won't do.Karol
Pieter Boelen 1,032 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 If not, there is always internet connection or satellite communication. Williams could be the first digital or virtual conductor in the universe. And instantly he would again be MORE modern than Mr. Zimmer!
A24 5,156 Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 His face (or the giant monitor showing Williams conduct) would be on the cover of Time magazine!
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Anyone else starting to feel like JJ is more of a hired gun here and will have less creative input than the other movies he's directed?well if he delivers as good a Kershner... i'm game.Oh, on sunday, our Darth Vader voice actor, Constantino Romero (who also did many other great dubbing work for memorable characters) died of some neurologic disease few months after retiring . Rest in peace, and thanks for your voice.
