Philip Glass, the most overrated composer ever, was extremely boring. Salvation finally came with Stravinsky. Järvi's version is pretty fast but I like it that way.

I didn't find it depressing at all. Remember, millions of people die in Star Wars too. Star Wars and Dune are pretty similar: Emperors, chosen ones, princesses, rebels, deserts, duels, battles, etc. Dune is slightly less geared towards children, that's all. I don't know. Some things in Dune 2 felt rushed to me and it felt more like a typical ride (heavily relying on spectacle, explosions, ...). I did like Paul's mother better this time. The symbols on her face helped to make her more impressive and believable.
