Proofing John Williams' sketches for his latest movie project, "The Book Thief".

There's little doubt that's his handwriting.

It's familiar territory for Williams, but I wonder how this came about. For him to take on a non-Spielberg project, it could be that he found it particularly inspiring. The prospect of JW working with a different director is certainly more exciting than American Sniper with Spielberg was.

Don't forget that he probably got interested into the project because of the book on which the movie is based, like many times he did in the past. Or maybe he's a fan of Downton Abbey and wished to work with one of its director

This is great...and it's not only proof of Williams sustained stamina, but that he has somewhat of a 'new spring' -- what with the increased concert ratio, accepting the new STAR WARS, the concert works left and right and now also a new score not for Spielberg. It's a fairly common phenomenon for 80+ years olds when they realize it's nearing the end, but at the same time feeling in good shape and the self-inflicted pressure that they have a lot more to give!

I guess the director hasn't worked on many films but he did direct the show Downtown Abbey apparently. I'm more hopeful now, considering how well received the show was.

I'd heard of that movie a while ago, it features this amazing young actress Sophie Nélisse, whom I saw in another movie and absolutely blew me away !

I checked Rotten Tomatoes. He's done one movie and it's sitting at 50% but he also directed Downtown Abbey apparently.
