Joni Wiljami reacted to crumbs in THE LAST JEDI - Complete Isolated Score stream available via Movies Anywhere and 2020 Blu Ray edition
Ugh. Anyway, back on topic, rewatched TLJ tonight (in normal form) and again loved that soundtrack. The film carries music incredibly well, considering all but 10 minutes of the film are scored.

The only time I felt music was unnecessary was during the Kylo/Luke sequence, as the First Order fires all their weapons at Luke. Half the music is tracked from Escape anyway, so eh!

Either way, just reiterates how skewed the impression of the score is on OST. I reckon a solid 2 hours of the film is original score and the remaining 20 is existing themes, but I'll have to measure it out just to reassure myself. In any case, the film is definitely not just "TFA regurgitated" or any nonsense like that. And just when you think you've seen the best scored and orchestrated music of any film in 2017 (the sacrifice sequence in Escape), JW tops it (with Holdo's Resolve) then JW tops it again (with The Spark). He's a genius.

Thanks for sending me the CD - and it's in mint condition! I hope you enjoy the Lionel Newman conducted Korngold CD I sent in return.

More TLJ haters than lovers here.

Wow just catching up on this thread is hilarious. So many people confused by pretty straightforward technology.

Rian Johnson / Disney made the isolated score available to stream in high quality (Dolby Digital+ in 5.1 channels) and if your device supports it, you get to listen to it in that format.

If your device doesn't, you get a downgraded version. If you play on a computer, for example, you get 96kbps AAC.  If you play on Apple TV, you get PCM stereo. If you play on a good enough Roku, you get the DD 5.1. This is all assuming the device on the other end of the HDMI can read that format.

It's not going to be on the physical Blu Ray disc. We've already known that for weeks, but RJ's tweets again today reconfirm it.  Some people only read his first tweet instead of the whole chain.

It's an exclusive special feature only available with Movies Anywhere. If you buy the movie digitally today on another platform, you can link your purchase to Movies Anywhere and stream the music track. If you wait and buy the physical Blu Ray, it comes with a digital copy and if you activate that, you can link it to Movies Anywhere and stream the music track.

Officially and legally, you can only play the music through Movies Anywhere while you have an active internet connection to stream it while the movie streams (unless they have an offline mode I'm not aware of).

If you plan on pirating this track instead of purchasing it, please don't talk on our public forums about that, or how you've pirated it for other people. Use your head.

Please just talk about the music track itself, and the software and methods one might use to archive yourself a recording of it if you did buy it, IE for in case Movies Anywhere ever takes it away or you don't want to use internet bandwidth to listen to it every time, etc. Please don't talk about uploading it to others or downloading it if you didn't buy it. We have a freaking PM system people.

    Thank you.

You guys are crazy, but you know, we all love different things and that's cool of course  To me the music when they go into dream land is just stunning. The main theme has a little Tchaikovsky feel to it and To Giant Country and Frollick are so much fun. He was on a completely different trip writing this and it was nice to hear. The movie itself is charming. The only thing I would have done different is had more of an actual fight with the giants at the end. seemed too easy. Other than that, Mark Rylance has to be one of the best actors working today. And we get the brilliant Penelope Wilton in there too.

Well, I disagree. Then again, I hate camp -- whether deliberate or not. I prefer my sci fi to take itself extremely seriously. If anything required a proper reboot (in these reboot times), it's LOST IN SPACE.

Very interesting interview with Skywalker Sound mixer Ren Klyce about his job of mixing John Williams' score for The Last Jedi:

The comments on that article are cancer. I can't stand snobs who feel the need to bring out the age-old "copying" accusation every time they see Williams' name mentioned.

    Yes.  Double yes.
The Book Thief is one of Williams's best scores.
    I'll second that.
