Yes but the right composers are all dead.

I think Revenge of the Sith is my favorite Star Wars score. In fact, I think I prefer the prequels to the originals.

I don't appreciate your indigenous tone.

Gnome in Plaid got a reaction from Unlucky Bastard in Why do people hate daytime soap operas?
Not always.  When I lived in Morocco, we got soap operas from everywhere.  Ones from the Philippines seemed especially popular, for some reason.

Especially from the standout composer of daytime soaps.  That feline bastard's killing our employment chances.

You don't need bushes. A van or ice cream truck is a time honored tradition.

Nice overview (actually reminded me about some albums I'd like to get).  I quoted the ones I'd prioritize (with a lot of exclamation marks added for Patton and Islands in the Stream).  You left out a couple of really incredible scores from his early career, though: Freud and City of Fear are essential Goldsmith.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring - The Complete Recordings

What an epic, sweeping, phenomenal score this is. The brilliance in Shore's work here, as well as his scores for the other LOTR films, is how perfectly he managed to capture the magic and feel of the Middle-earth books in his music. For those who have read Tolkien's literature, you can imagine in your mind's eye a tin whistle accompanying the Hobbits as they go about their daily business in the Shire, a foreboding, chanting choir as the heroes journey deep into the dark places of the world, a menacing, rhythmic pounding of an anvil as the villains prepare for inevitable war; the genius in this man's work is astounding.

One day, this score will go down in cinematic history as one of, if not the, greatest film soundtrack of all time, if it hasn't already.

Yes but we'll have the greatest pointless polls, just spectacular, you wouldn't believe.  Everyone will be happy with our pointless polls.

Most modern movie scores are just sound effects!

Best?  Recently, HP1, the Prequels, Edge of Darkness, and all of Aronofsky's films stand out in my mind as particularly good.
Worst? Sherlock Holmes 2 and BOFA, although the latter might be more due to the recording.  Either way, how do major studio releases end up sounding that bad?

It was the moment that made all the preceding smaller offenses of the movie no longer bearable.  What followed right after redeemed things a bit, for a while.

So it is 15 days of actual recordings and 15 days of rhaita overdubs. Sounds about right.

Gnome in Plaid got a reaction from Josh500 in Which are your favorite "conspiratorial" music pieces?
A Conspiracy Unmasked (The Fellowship of the Ring, Shore)  (OK, not really a "conspiratorial" piece, but, hey, the title fits!)
Palpatine's Seduction (Revenge of the Sith, Williams)
    Kazim's Theme (Sahara, Mansell)
The Abduction (The Silence of the Lambs, Shore)
I've Known Everything (House of Cards, Beal)
Infiltration (Die Hard with a Vengeance, Kamen)
    The Fight (American Gangster, Streitenfeld)

That's why Sponge Out of Water is better. It's that score's merits but with less exhaustion and more variety.

Honestly, the Lord of the Rings films are not just some mainstream films (which I thought before I've seen them as an adult in the extended version), they're also cinematic masterpieces (not using this term inflationarily).
