LOL. The face says it all. Bam, right into camera.

    Is Williams waving to Puck?

Thanks!  Will add to the main post.

Here it is from the audience's perspective.  Their reaction to Williams is chillingly epic.  He literally needs no introduction!

I apologize on behalf of the Orlando Pops for that awful
performance of the Star Wars theme. I spent rehearsal
time riding The Haunted Mansion at @WaltDisneyWorld.

Warms me heart to see Williams get that huge applause and for him to very gently shush them. A bit bizarre seeing Williams in the heart of complete fandom for once.

As naive as it is to even entertain as a possible outcome, I hope we never will get a saga Star Wars film without Williams.

NinjaTracks. But there's no need to check, as they do not create music for specific trailers. They write various music in bulk, and send it off to trailer houses to be edited to any trailers (much like Immediate Music and X-Ray Dog). The Rogue One trailer music appears to have been written years ago, before Rogue One was probably even in development. The choral force theme at the beginning was actually a patch created with EWQL Symphonic Choirs' soprano solo voice (mod #1)  - I can confirm this as I own the program and the waveforms are identical. I've spent some time studying trailer music back in the day, so I have an good idea of how the business works.

Hot damn! Thanks for that, guys. Was really tempted to watch the trailer so I could hear the music but I didn't want to fold on my promise to not watch any of the trailers prior to the film's release. Thanks for giving me an out! Yahoo!

That hint of Rey's Theme in power anthem mode (over the shot of the Falcon blasting the X-Wing) is phenomenal. Just shows how Williams can write themes that are versatile enough to be tender and emotionally resonant, yet also transformative enough to be used in an epic and powerful way such as this. Just as Williams is a chameleon composer, he writes themes that are chameleons themselves depending on orchestration.

Reminds me of the Force Theme's development through successive films in the OT. I think he was restraining his use of Rey's Theme in TFA; he said as much in the scoring featurette. It appears all over that film but I think its most glorious and powerful appearances are still to come.

I will give credit to Disney for doing an incredible job blurring the sound of trailer music and John Williams. That first half genuinely sounded like a Williams composition (complete with orchestra) but as the trailer went on it felt more like trailer house on steroids.

It would seem the best way these days is to play the Star Wars theme outside his house.

Aw man, now I feel guilty.  I caved and watched it once, but just once!  I'm not going to endlessly analyze it or watch any of the thousands of trailer analyses that will be on the internet over the coming days/weeks/months.  But yeah, that movie looks reaaaaaallll good

As I promised to Disco Stu, I'm going to try and abstain from watching this, but I'll certainly be curious as to what you guys think. This concludes this pointless announcement.

    Thanks for your reply Thor!

Sadie Roosa, the WGBH rep, claims in the email that if they are able to determine to a certainty that their organisation still has full rights clearance to the footage, that it would be digitised and made available for free anyway. In fact, if I really wanted to take my chances, I'd put up my own $60 if indeed it lead to the episode being made openly accessible. (And I might very do that in the near future).

I'm keen to look through a whole heap of episodes; next on my list would be where Joshua Bell performs the Alexander Courage Porgy and Bess Violin fantasy.

I totally understand that other people will want to see other episode; and you are right that this will indeed frustrate fundraising efforts if we cannot agree how to best expend out our money to get this done. It would be much easier of course if we knew our money went towards a definitive product/service, but as the email states, we would for the present only be spending money to see if something is at all possible.

Sadie also states that if they determine that there is no rights clearance, that the episodes can be made available on their premises for private ('research') viewing for a much more substantive fee; But seeing as I live in Sydney, that's a prohibitive option for me physically as well a financially.

Maybe we can invite forum members to suggest episodes, then based on that we can put up an opinion poll to make a short list, and then we can establish a crowdfunding page to raise the funds at least for a 'Rights Assessment' for those particular episodes. Hopefully we can spread the fixed cost across as many members as possible, and make it cheaper for everyone interested. Just my thoughts...

    Cheers!
