I don't know, Voller's initial triumphant reaction after they first got through the portal and the really quick shot of the ships where I couldn't tell what they were had me thinking for a couple seconds that Indy was wrong and the really had gone back to 1939. This way we got two of those great 'oh fuck' reactions from Voller instead of just one like most Indy villains get so I'm not complaining lol.

yes you're right actually, thats def the twist before the twist....

buuuuut.....you still can barely tell what the ships are in the sea until Indy says triremes.  there is that split second where you literally don't where you are, and almost assume its 1939 based on Voller's reaction.

but you're right.  Ford's line about the calculations being wrong is the "oh shit moment" the film desperately needed!  and expertly delivered.  I swear Ford had his most 'acting' fun in DoD.

One thing i love about the score and film, is that John William's opening percussion in the Battle of Syracuse is the surprise, BEFORE the surprise.

That ancient sorta tribal beat is John Williams front and center for arguably the best part of the film and I think, personally, one of the best twists in all of the Indy films.

His music got to be the twist for a couple seconds, and I love that.

This is still the best Indy OST with the best crafted best flowing program, nevermind what's missing.

My order from the 24th of August is still showing In Progress. Will I actually receive it, or did they run out of stock again and there's a risk they might just refund me and be done with it?

I e-mailed them again after that post, and again today, and Ariel "kindly recommended" I should contact "[my] financial institution for further confirmation". I did some more digging and found that I have indeed received their refund three weeks ago - only I never noticed it, because after telling me that they could only do the refund via "alternate means", i.e. either paper cheque or PayPal, and me responding with my PayPal account address, they actually issued to the refund back to the Visa card I used to pay for the order in the first place.

Which seems again to confirm my impression that their customer support stuff is very friendly and supportive, but the Emporium is horribly mis-managed and between stock replies that sometimes contradict the official FAQs on the website and personal replies, none of the staff really seem to know what's going on. C.f. the fact that they apparently still keep collecting US VAT for international orders, and also c.f. the limited, not-so-limited, possibly out of print or not DoD album.

Yeah, after a stressful last few weeks at work I finally logged in to JWFan to find that I've missed the chance to get this score all over again! Woohoo! I am a massive collector, and love physical media, but this time sod it, I just ripped the soundtrack from YouTube. Honestly Officer, Disney made me do it!

    Some insights from the spreadsheet:
There's 18 minutes 17 seconds of music in the prologue, but the OST only covers 4:42 of that segment. The first two cues (almost 4 minutes of music) are completely unreleased, and the remaining cues were all edited. "Indy Driver" is 3 minutes long in the movie but the OST only includes 1:30, "It's a Fake" is almost 4 minutes long but we can only hear 0:27 (!) and the next three cues are over 2 minutes but are edited down to seconds. Geez... The OST track "Tuk Tuk in Tangiers" only covers the first part of the chase, there's 4:18 of the second cue from the same action scene that went unreleased. In other words: the majority of the music for an important action scene is nowhere to be found on the OST. For the climax, "To The Airport Part 2" (2:30 minutes) and "Through the Portal" (3:46 minutes) were completely dropped from the album. "Ancient Syracuse" and "Centuries Join Hands" are much longer in the movie, with the OST containing approx. just half of those cues. On the other hand, "Archimedes' Tomb" is 24 seconds shorter on the movie, which means that probably the OST has material that were ultimately dropped from the final cut. In terms of unreleased material and presentation of the score as actually heard in the movie, this might actually be one of the worst recent JW OSTs, huh?
