The physical CD just arrived at my house.

The CD version does NOT contain the 4 acapella tracks from the online/streaming version!  The CD version just ends at track 32.

This is annoying because it makes the CD 68 minutes long; The online version with the 4 extra tracks is only 75 minutes long, so the CD could have EASILY held this stuff.  STUPID!

    HEY E.T. 2017 WAS BIG.

It was not so much about the "content", but the "quality" of the mix (and of course, a little bit too for the reissue of the original album -AT LAST!-).

Anyway, every new Mike Matessino release IS BIG!

Go to his webpage, and try to buy every JW releases he was involved in.  That's the only thing to do!!!

Tomorrow Never Dies is one of my favorite film scores of all time and despite a prior expanded released and an isolated score on the DVD, there is still unreleased music, so I am very much looking forward to this!

I hope it is a Black Friday title from LLL this year!

I don't think it will ever be possible to "over listen" to this. Such fun Powell style in a Star Wars-y way!

For all of you Giacchino lovers, I had the chance to go this afternoon to the Royal Albert Hall to see Star Trek in Concert. The Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra (most of the RPO but not top tier as they had a concert conflicting the same day at Cadogan Hall) played the score absolutely beautifully. It was amazing to take a friend who had never seen Star Trek or a live orchestra. He kept turning to me with his eyes wide open and jaw on the ground which made me giggle all the time. I actually do love this new Star Trek reinterpretation and cast so I had a great time. I think Gia's timing and nuances in this are spot on. He sets the pace and tone beautifully. I personally just wish the theme was more a theme rather than a motif that doesn't really go anywhere. That's just a personal preference. I think it sort of thuds rather than flies. Other than that, the score is big, and really takes you on a journey with the film and hats off to him on this score. First Horn player Anna Douglas was a standout as was Wang Xiao on the Erhu!
Oh one other gripe. It wasn't because of where I was sitting, because these are our family seats since the 80s and never had this problem before. The trombones were landing late, but it wasn't the players. They were mic'd so I believe it was that causing the delay with the brass stabs throughout the film. They were about half a second to a second late each time and that was a tad annoying.

Next Week, 9th of June, I see Zimmer vs Williams (Oh Boy, lol) and the week after, 14th of June, I have Close Encounters in concert with the same orchestra again. Anyone going to either of these?

I really enjoyed Spotify as well, they certainly take care of their library (as bespin noted) but when it came to needing access to a good library as well as mixing in my library of ripped physical releases Spotify just couldn’t do that.  Apple Music just made it seem less cumbersome. Especially, and this for me is the crutch that killed both Spotify and google music for me, where the vast majority of my devices are apple and there was, at least at the time (haven’t looked in some time), no Spotify app for the Apple tv’s hooked to my sound setups in the house and no good way to access my own library at the same time.
Unless that’s changed I’ll stick with the not perfect but easy to use Apple Music, but I totally get people’s love for Spotify over Apple if you aren’t in the ecosystem!

I tried google music when it first came out for the same reason.

My my experience was it was slow, did’t always upload all the tracks and didn’t have enough device support for me to keep paying for it. (I have mostly apple devices). That said it was a couple years ago so someone else here might have a different opinion and the service may have improved.

    - The brass stabs at 1:31 is so Horner.
    - The high ceremonial brass at 1:51 is so Williams.
    - The shape of the melody itself is so Silvestri!

    A perfect combination.

    I LOVE IT!!!!

P.S. - The way the strings rise as the brass falls at 1:58 is sublime! Gorgeous orchestration.
