Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to PrayodiBA in John Powell - Wicked The Movie: Part One (2024), Coming This November
There is a (big) possibility that there won’t be a score album for this movie, as indicated by the official soundtrack cover:
This is sadly in line with how Powell not even once promote the movie in his Instagram, like he usually does, even though his involvement has been made public for months. 😔
A new trailer will be released today, and if he doesn’t repost or mention it, then that further confirms it.
(But who knows, maybe he will surprise us with score album, but as the fact stands now, don’t put hope 😔)

Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to La La Land Records in The Official La-La Land Records Thread
I applaud your efforts and accomplishments. Congratulations, but you shouldn't belittle a company or cry out the sky is falling just because you may not like what has been released. People work hard on these projects...like you, they pour their blood sweat and tears into them...move mountains to make miracles happen, both on our end and at the studio level for pieces of plastic that don't make anyone rich. We do this because we have a love for it.

Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to La La Land Records in The Official La-La Land Records Thread
We started the year off with 2 James Bond Scores, released Top Gun, unleashed the 50th anniversary of Sugarland Express, Last Action Hero, a never before released Bernard Herrmann classic and finished of our Star Trek TOS series, arguably the most famous and profitable franchise in television history...all of this along with a host of other releases that as of Sept 1 has made 2024 our most successful year yet ...and we have 4 more months to go of some amazing releases.
What have you accomplished in 2024?

Raiders of the SoundtrArk got a reaction from Once in Music Box Records
Music Box just released a 2CD set for Yared's The Talented Mr. Ripley
https://www.musicbox-records.com/fr/cd-musiques-de-films/14964-the-talented-mr-ripley-25th-anniversary-expanded-edition.html
A 2-CD set.
Newly remastered and expanded edition.
16-page CD booklet with liner notes by Daniel Schweiger.
Limited Edition of 2000 units.
In collaboration with Warner Chappell Music, Sony Music and Paramount Pictures, Music Box Records proudly presents the remastered and expanded edition of Gabriel Yared’s score for the 1999 thriller The Talented Mr. Ripley, starring Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cate Blanchett and Phillip Seymour Hoffman, as written for the screen and directed by Anthony Minghella (The English Patient, Cold Mountain, Breaking and Entering).
Nominated for five Academy Awards (including Best Original Score, Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay), this movie about a desperately murderous quest for identity, class and love was based on the most notorious character created by author Patricia Highsmith (Strangers on a Train). Previously adapted as Purple Noon with Alain Delon, Anthony Minghella’s version gave a new, tragically vulnerable take on the character, who insinuates himself among jazz loving expatriates (Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow), only to kill the brother he’d always wanted and assume his identity, all while trying to keep his illusion of innocence at any cost.
Taking his lush Oscar-winning approach for The English Patient in a new direction to capture both the beat jazz era of the film’s 1959 setting alongside a multi-thematic approach that plays both Ripley’s increasingly psychotic quest for the good life and the wounded, child-like boy that yearns for love and purpose. The score combining striking orchestral melody with suspenseful rhythm, eerie female voices and the music of a dark lullaby (as personified by its title song by Sinéad O’Connor), The Talented Mr. Ripley is a masterpiece of dark romance and suspense that’s a highlight of Yared’s acclaimed collaborations with Anthony Minghella.
Celebrating the film's 25th anniversary, this new expanded edition, supervised by Gabriel Yared, has been assembled and remastered from the recording session elements. Disc 1 ("The Film Score") presents the expanded film score with previously unreleased cues. Disc 2 ("The Extras") presents excerpts from the original Sony album, Yared’s demo cues and numerous instrumental tracks that highlight the alternative presentations and edits of the score. The CD comes with a 16-page booklet with liner notes by Daniel Schweiger, who discusses the film and the score including new comments by Gabriel Yared on his career-defining work with Anthony Minghella and film editor Walter Murch. The CD release is limited to 2000 units.

Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to Marian Schedenig in What are your favorite shots in a movie?
I love how much Branagh was able to get out of this rather small and straightforward role:
It's interesting how the film doesn't try to hide its 2001: ASO influence and references not only the stargate visuals at the end of the "scientifically accurate" black hole sequence, but even the star child itself.
Which also made me wonder (and then wonder why I hadn't wondered about it before): With so many films copying the 2001: ASO template, and many of them copying not just an idea or two, but actually *structurally* copying large parts of it - were Kubrick & Clarke really that original? Or did their film have similarly clear predecessors that I'm not aware of?
