Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to Jay in Hans Zimmer's BLACK RAIN (1989) - NEW! 2025 Quartet Records 2-CD edition
@Stéphane Humez says
New release day ! 4th of the 6 Hans / Ridley Scott collaborations released this year ! We had the chance to completely revisit Hans' amazing Black Rain score, from newly transfered multitracks provided by Paramount. Dan (Warm Butter Design) didn't have access to this material for the previous release with La-La Land back in 2012, so we were very lucky to have access to that and had a lot of fun putting it back together and make it sound even more fantastic (and poor MXM - Maxime Marion up to the task of remixing it all ! lol). Also included is the film version of the whole ending of the score, which was previously unavailable. And again a very cool interview with Hans conducted by Kaya (Film.Music.Media) ! So I hope you'll enjoy this brand new version we did with Dan, Maxime, Kaya, José, Nacho... !! 🙂
Available here (CD format release) : https://quartetrecords.com/product/black-rain-2-cd/

Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to Manakin Skywalker in 'Star Wars' Theatrical Version Officially Returning to Theaters in 2027
They're not re-compositing, their process was part of the leaks. They're scanning second-generation sources for the shots that were removed/altered for the Special Editions since the negatives were altered physically, in a higher resolution than the shots being rescanned from the negatives. So in other words, all of the little imperfections are still present, and can be seen in the leaked footage.
As for the plates, those seem to be for some sort of documentary that's being worked on (as noted in one of the documents). We've also gotten some restored footage from a few deleted scenes. So it seems they're basically just scanning and archiving everything they have on hand before the elements disintegrate.
They're also doing a new 7.1 Atmos upmix of the original Dolby stereo track (plus restoration of the original mono track and a few others, presumably for a physical release).
From all the leaked footage, documents and audio we have, it's going to be a purist's wet dream.

Star Wars Returns to Theaters for 50th Anniversary | StarWars.com
So the leaks were indeed true, the theatrical cut of Star Wars is returning to theaters!
Considering we already know about the other two films being worked on, I guess those'll likely either be returning to theaters as well, or at least releasing in some form (4K boxset please!)

Should be the OST that also came out in these days. I don't expect Disney to post any new stuff, they haven't done it in years.
Anyway, here are the links:

Raiders of the SoundtrArk reacted to Stéphane Humez in Hans Zimmer's BLACK RAIN (1989) - NEW! 2025 Quartet Records 2-CD edition
Most of the time that's what I prefer, the score "as written"... But the problem anyway is that these last minute edit can't be found for the most part. There's no "final mix" of them, it only exists in the film's dub mix. And good luck getting that from studios, but luckily here we could get it.
And in this particular case it brings something. "Airport" was tweaked & reworked to make a bridge to the song, it not just "let's mute an instrument" like many film mixes. And I wanted to conclude the album the same way it started, with HZ, Jennings & Allman's song as they were in the film. So for once we opted for the film "edits" to be in the score programme. But anyone alergic to that can replace it with the written one in the alts, I guess...

It's a tiny thing used in the film (the mall scene right before Charlie Loses His Head). It was on a tape where it wasn't supposed to be !
Also little icing on the cake for me, we were able to use the cue titles from the first version of the cuesheet, before it was revised and all changed to the album titles "Sato Pt 1, Sato Pt 2" etc. I always thought it wasn't great. Now it looks much better !!

So I will explain this one a bit.
First it was long sold out at LLL. Quartet was interested, an initially I thought, yeah simply reissue it. What can we do more ?
But we asked Paramount and a few years ago they had transfered all the tapes they had, not just the stereo mixes Dan used in 2012. They had 24 and 32 multitracks.
So a big chance to clean it all and remix it. As I explained, Hans is not a huge fan of the mixes of his former business partner (who basically mixed the scores with Hans from 1988 to 1994 until the great Alan Meyerson took over). So, every time there's a chance to remix, Hans is all for it. We could do it with Thelma, and here again. Same as Thelma, we tried to stay close to the original mix but there was room for improvement. The sound is amazing.
The thing that bothered me though was to get the film version of the whole final sequence. It's tweaks made by the editors, and Bike / Fight is kind of a mess but "Airport" was the piece I was looking for. I don't know what they did, but even with the stems it was impossible to simply "redo" it. So we asked Paramount and they provided us with the isolated film music stem and we just got that ending !
So that's why we have :
18 - Bikes / Fight - Bullpen / Awards (Film Version) (5:20) 19 - Airport (Film Version) (1:48)
20 - I'll Be Holding On (End Titles Version) - Gregg Allman (4:01) And on disc 2 the written : 17 - Bikes / Fight – Bullpen / Awards / Airport (Alternate) (9:28)
Also add the funny "Art Of The Fugue" source arrangement lost somewhere on tapes lol. -

Let the speculation begin:
Our five end-of-the-year releases will be announced on December 5. There's something for everyone: two are from the '70s, two are from the '80s, and one is from the '90s. For those who might ask, none are by Morricone.

Cool, really excited to hear this later this week. I hope it's a good chunk of the score as well.
Speaking of this film, my brain, for whatever reason, always reads the title as Fish and Ass. Happens every single time!
