These are becoming quite the Rorschach test these days.

There was a flap over last year's Star Trek Day banners because they didn't include Shatner. The reasons for leaving him out aren't totally out of whack, IMHO. If you're picking one person to represent TOS and you have the choice of Kirk OR Spock then you definitely go with Spock. Shatner's Kirk is a legend. Nimoy's Spock is an icon. IIRC some banners got rid of Shatner, Nimoy, AND Mount, going with Peck for Spock taking the SNW spot and Uhura taking over for TOS.

It's not about erasing Shatner's Kirk for being "problematic" but it is about marketing the current shows and "balancing" the demographics.

So now we have this poster from Variety. There are 84 representation of various characters. 57 characters total. Well. Shatner (not Kirk, SHATNER) appears FIVE TIMES.

Patrick Stewart appears three times (once as Locutus). Leonard Nimoy, Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Brent Spiner, LeVar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, and Michael Dorn all appear twice. Kate Mulgrew, Jack Quaid, and Tawny Newsome appear in live action and animated.

Characterwise, Kirk appears EIGHT times. Spock five. Uhura three. Sulu three. (Every Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Sulu, and Uhura are here. But only one Chekov!). Picard has three. Boimler, Data, Janeway, Khan, LaForge, Mariner, McCoy, Riker, Scott, and Worf all appear twice.

As for shows, TOS gets 18, 11 from the movies. TNG gets 13, 5 from the movies, with an additional 6 from Picard. JJ-Trek gets 14! . Prodigy gets 7! SNW gets 6. (Unless we count live action Boimler and Mariner as LDS then it gets 4.) Lower Decks gets 5. (Or 7!) DS9 gets 5. Discovery might have Burnham and Oscar Winning Actress and Future Star of Section 31 Michelle Yeoh big and prominent but the show only gets 3 characters. (Booker over Saru? Are they insane?) And Voyager and Enterprise each get 3.

Of the cast from the opening credits of each show we are missing: TOS Chekov(!), Beverly Crusher (but we got Jack for some reason), and Deanna Troi from TNG. Dax (either one), Bashir, and Jake Sisko from DS9. Chakotay, Torres, Paris, Kes, Neelix, The Doctor, and Kim from VOY. T'Pol, Phlox, Sato, and Tucker from ENT. Saru, Tyler, Stamets, Tilly, Lorca, and Culber from Disco. Chapel, La'an, Ortegas, M'Benga, and Hemmer from SNW. (They have the tertiary race of servants from Star Trek: Insurrection, but not Saru or Phlox?)

You know, I still haven't read the article.

And finally, we have the last post for Deathly Hallows 2: the OST presentation!

There are no concert works unique to this film, but there is an extended version of the Epilogue ("All Was Well") in its place. The OST and the full score are both available for download as FLAC/MP3, and there are now clean openings and endings for continuous cues in the full score if you'd rather have those.

Thank you so much for going on this journey with us! Hearing from all of you on JWFan has meant the world to us both. We hope you'll stay tuned for future updates when we finish remastering Goblet of Fire. Until then, we're going to enjoy having 8 complete Potter scores in the style of John Williams!

We would love to hear everyone's thoughts, as always. And thanks @mstrox! It's unexpected for someone new to comment now, so I'm curious what you'll think now that the whole project is out there. Hope you like it if you get the chance to listen further. Thank you for your comment!

    The final end credits!!

We have our normal post-film releases coming in the next few weeks, but this is the end of a long journey that we've been so honored to share with you all. It's really made all of this so worth it to read all of your comments, thoughts, critiques, and support. I know I've said this before but we've enjoyed it so much!

Ah, you beat me to it! Sorry, we had to take some extra time with this one (even more than planned, haha). I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

We apologize for being late to the Sunday release, but it's all done! We made it! Here is the finale of the Deathly Hallows, Cues 52-57. The end credits will be released in two weeks - along with the other huge pieces at the end of Hallows here, the credits are hefty and we want to do a good job on them. We really hope you enjoy and feel as nostalgic as we do with this ending. It's hard to believe this is the last one.

Thank you all so so so much for listening over the years! We still have the usual stuff in store for the coming month, so this isn't done for good yet of course, but it's a big milestone today. Let us know what you think!

Dave got a reaction from Stark in Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 1 Rescore
Hello everyone. I am currently rescoring the entire first Season of Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Reason for that: While Seasons 2-7 have some incredible cinematic orchestral music by Christophe Beck and Thomas Wander (and others), the first Season has a very subtle, cheap sounding, synth-like score, most likely because of the limited budget. My goal is to elevate Season 1 (at least musically) to the rest of the show by writing an orchestral score with new themes and motifs but also using iconic pieces like the "Close Your Eyes" theme from Season 2. Giving it musical continuity, so to speak.

All the rescored episodes are presented with a complete audio mix including dialogue, SFX and of cause the music. Since I wasn't able to find the 5.1 mixes that come with the HD Remaster, I had to centerchannel extract every scene with music and re-do basically the entire background noise that got extracted alongside with Walter Murphy's original score. I tried to find the 5.1 Mixes, I went to every page Google presented to me but non of them had what I wanted... I added english subtitles in case the extraction extraced too much... Once I find the 5.1 mixes I will replace my previous efforts immediately.

The Video quality is greatly improved though. You can watch all episodes in the glorious fanmade DVD Upscale in FHD which looks better than the upscaled shots in the official Remaster. And Episodes 8-12 are also available to watch in the 16:9 HD Remaster which I fixed where I could: I added Color grading/correction, grain, replaced bad upscaled shots with good upscaled shots, fixed things you shouldn't see because converting something from 4:3 to 16:9 actually requires attention and care and both of these seemingly didn't exist while the Remaster was made.

Episode scores for 9, 11 & 12 still need to be written. Here's a rough plan for these:
1x09 "The Puppet Show" early February 2024
1x11 "Out Of Mind, Out Of Sight" March/April 2024
    1x12 "Prophecy Girl" April-July 2024

Hi all! We are so sorry to announce that our promised schedule has been bumped by a couple weeks. It’s a busy time of year, and Molly is especially swamped with her last year of DMA work in music school. Unfortunately, as much as we love working on this project, it’s had to take a backseat more than expected in the past month.

That being said, we WILL be uploading cues 42-48 on December 10th for all of you. Thanks for hanging in there with us! We’re making sure that this can be the best final film possible, and would rather bump release dates and do a good job than rush through it and regret it later. (also, Patreon folks, look for a preview of the first two cues this weekend!)

Thanks everyone. We’ll see you in December!

The same leak (or other?.. I don't know) also includes some synth versions of S1 such as "Westminster Bridge", "A Lone Dalek" and some more. Great stuff imo. I obviously prefer the re-recorded orchestral versions (I also love the "The Girl In The Fireplace" concert version (there's also a second one)) but the original synth versions also have something unique and likeable about them.

I don't think that it will be one release. S10 plus surrounding specials need at least 3CDs. Maybe even 4. I hope Murray decides against the idea of giving the christmas specials their own disc for S10... I don't like the idea of having two half empty discs of "The Return Of Doctor Mysterio" and "Twice Upon A Time" while "World Enough And Time/The Doctor Falls" gets squeezed with 2 or three other episodes.
