Tom got a reaction from crumbs in Harry Potter - Live to Projection Concerts
the later Potter films would make for a painfully dull live orchestra experience.

Tom got a reaction from Setreal in Rey's Theme – John Williams' Best Theme Yet?
Well, obviously the poll is borderline insane, but I will take the bait and say this: at this point, I would place the theme in the top 10 of Williams' themes. It has a mature, sublime quality that borders on some of his best concert works but with a more accessible style. I do not think the three minute track itself is a top ten piece, though it could be with a longer arrangement. I know it is wishful thinking, but he could easily incorporate the flute-theme in the final track and work up a more substantial piece.

Tom got a reaction from SafeUnderHill in The Force Awakens Disney Records OST
I hope the flow from track to track is good. My only disappointment with the listing is the relative brevity of what look like concert tracks (rey, march, scherzo), but that is mainly for future live performances. Perhaps the published concert versions will be longer.

Tom got a reaction from crumbs in The Force Awakens cast discuss (UPDATE: And Sing!) Williams' score
It is refreshing to find an interviewer who asks questions about the music.

Tom got a reaction from Incanus in Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (JJ Abrams 2015)
A scherzo and a march. Give me a fugue in there and it will be a perfect soundtrack.

Tom got a reaction from ricsim88 in Williams To Conduct At "Tanglewood On Parade" and "John Williams' Film Night" in August 2016
He is still confirmed for Philly in May. My guess is he will perform TFA music at that concert, though obviously scheduling order to determine the "premiere."

Tom got a reaction from Cerebral Cortex in The Force Awakens prediction game
There are good guys, bad guys, explosions, more explosions, a mystical energy field that binds all living things together, more explosions, unnecessary robot banter, more explosions, and a transcendent score that makes the whole thing feel awesome versus trite and stupid.

Tom got a reaction from Arpy in Force Awakens ABC TV Spot - CONFIRMED premiere of Williams' score!
While I still think the snippet is Williams, it is a very odd choice to debut his new work in a commercial--and not even in the first commercial. I guess we will have to wait a month to sort this stuff out. I remain convinced that Williams has not "lost it" when it comes to big blockbuster scoring. He simply has not had a real opportunity since TPM and Harry Potter.

Tom got a reaction from dead_lizard in JJ Abrams on working with John Williams
Maybe JJ can convince Spielberg to edit all of his personal "Williams at work" recordings into a documentary of sorts. We might get a lot more of these little insights into how Williams rolls.

It is okay to have an unexpressed thought.

Tom got a reaction from Taikomochi in Finn has a theme in The Force Awakens score
The whole notion of evaluating a theme due to its "iconic" nature is a bit odd. To be "iconic" necessarily means to be well known and thus is dependent on factors outside of musical quality. Beethoven's Ode to Joy is probably not well known to billions in the world due to a lack of a proper vehicle, but that says nothing about its musical quality. similarly, most non-Americans do not know the NBC mission theme and thus it is not "iconic," but who gives a damn, it is still a top-notch piece of music.

Tom got a reaction from Bespin in Jaws and Close Encounters
I love the music of John Williams, but have you ever noticed that every piece that he has composed sucks? What is up with that?

Tom got a reaction from Gruesome Son of a Bitch in JKMS Tweets John Williams quotes from the podium of recording sessions
How about this for a new Williams' quote:

More #johnwilliams from the podium. "My dream is that note for the brass will be louder than anything Verdi's got"
