They had a spat over the theme park rights. Disney originally signed a letter of intent in 2004 but didn’t want to spend the kind of money JKR and WB wanted for the park. Then Universal swooped in, offered up carte blanche and profited handsomely.
 
Say what you want about JKR, but she is one savvy and astute businesswoman.

AT&T is spinning off WarnerMedia and merging it with Discovery.

I would've thought that antitrust law would've kept Disney from purchasing Fox in the first place.
 
It's shameful seeing the Mouse House basically turn a powerhouse like 20th Century Fox into a label like WB did with New Line Cinema.

Had Jeff Bewkes annulled the AT&T/Warner deal, the mega merger could've been Disney buying Warner Bros. instead of 20th Century Fox.

Tom & Jerry are owned by Warner Bros (and stream on HBO Max). When Ted Turner bought MGM in 1986, he kept the pre-1986 film library before selling the studio off.

I tried watching The Princess Bride multiple times... it comes off as a too cutesy, self-aware adventure film. I can't get into it... and I really do like Elwes and Wright in it. The supporting characters are what kill the movie for me.
 
When Stardust first came out, people were comparing it favorably to Princess Bride. I think it's better than Bride, because Matthew Vaughn hits the right tone, the movie is humorous without winking at itself, the stakes feel real, the whole cast is excellent and there's a genuine sense of fun and adventure.

Actually saw this on the big screen again since summer 2008. The plot largely still holds up, Bale's deeper Bat voice still annoys, Pfister's lensing is still impeccable. Zimmer reusing his material doesn't bother me the way it did when it first came out. The ending is just as cathartic and beautifully cinematic.
 
And Ledger... it's crazy how he was in the film for only 20+ minutes but he OWNED each scene he was in. And his last scene is just haunting. I am honestly curious, had he not died, whether he would've appeared in TDKR.

I'm pretty sure the complete score runs about an hour and 33 minutes, so there's more unreleased music than you think.

Still bummed that this doesn't have a proper release. He deconstructs and plays around with Elfman's thematic material more -- but still in that musical family. It's amazing how many themes Young composed for the film (that got cut out) -- and it's all wonderful. The lack of electronic percussion doesn't hurt the score.
 
I actually prefer his arrangement of Elfman's opening titles theme over Elfman's original two.

Ridley Scott's best movie, period. It still feels contemporary, and the slow buildup still works well. The shocks still pack a punch, effects are seamless and Sigourney Weaver's performance still engaging.
 
Even though Scott and editor Terry Rawlings butchered Goldsmith's wonderful score in the film, how they used it with the "Freud" cues makes the film so wonderfully effective.

I feel pretty confident Wallfisch is going to quote Elfman's Batman theme (especially since Keaton has officially signed on), and possibly his Flash motif. 

I relistened to Elfman's Justice League score in full a few days ago. If I'm honest, it's not as bad as people make it out to be (and even then I think most just dislike it because it doesn't use most of Zimmer's themes). It's actually quite good IMO. There's a lot of stuff that works. Steppenwolf's theme is amazing, the usage of the 89 Batman theme are great, Flash's theme is great, the orchestral version of the Wonder Woman theme is really good etc. It's a pretty decent score. I think it has a lot more going on musically than Holkenborg's score for the Snyder cut and is ultimately a better listen. 

Joan was perhaps a bit mumsy compared to Liz's unapologetic sultriness. Both the De Havilands had a matronly squarishness about them that made them both a bit outdated by the newly developing edginess of the 1950s.

It’s not a bad film, a decent swashbuckler with a fantastic Miklos Rozsa score and a stunningly hot Elizabeth Taylor as Rebecca. Seriously, Taylor is distractingly beautiful compared to the dowdy looking Joan Fontaine as Rowena. The score, Taylor and the technicolor cinematography do a lot of the major lifting .

Mangold is, at the very least, a better filmmaker than JJ Abrams

Judging by Blade Runner 2049, Ford can at least still throw a convincing punch. 
 
It won't be as embarrassing as DeNiro kicking the shopkeeper in The Irishman like a retiree trying to score a soccer goal three feet away.

It's so refreshing to hear Zimmer break out of his soundscape / dialed-in sound he's been stuck in the past 5 years (i.e. Dark Phoenix, Dunkirk). And he intelligently develops and adds depth to the 'war cry' motif to make it a proper superhero theme.
 
I wish Zimmer had been this inspired when he did the Nolan and Snyder films. Because when he does a project he loves, he comes up with inspired work.
