I'm sorry, i just don't think anything from the trailer comes directly from Williams. Ive been listening to him for a few decades now and I don't hear it.

Having had a cup of coffee and watching the trailer a few times. It's a fine trailer.
It still doesnt give away much of anything. But that's hardly surprising considering JJ's obsession with secrecy.
The fact that they don't show Luke makes me hope that they have a truly splendid reveal in stall for him.
Interested by the fact that this time the main character is female. Daisy Ridley looks like she could be excellent.
This might very well be a fun, rip-roaring space adventure, with a healthy dollop of affection for the original trilogy.
And The Force Theme, even when pumped up like that, still gives me goose bumps.
I think I'll pre-order my cinema ticket now. I'm ready for this new era of Star Wars.

I know I saw Star Wars on a Belgian channel with Dutch/French subtitles when I was a kid. But didnt really become interested in it untill my mid teens. I think I rented them out because John Williams had scored them.
I thought Star Wars was pretty good. But it wasnt really untill TESB that the franchise blew me away.
I did have an Ewok and a few other characters, I think from Jabba's palace, when I was a kid.

    Just listened to it.
Like everyone else said, the score seems typically Newman, with the exception of the few moments when he goes for solemn Americana. Those are really the only parts where Newman goes for a Williams-type sound. But his solemn brass chorales don't quite have the dexterity of those in Williams' work. And in those parts it becomes very clear that Newman's general approach is far more sparse and linear compared to the more thick orchestrations we are used to in even the more modest expressions of John Williams patriotism.
A direct comparison between JW and Newman when it comes to this type of music will therefore always be in Thomas' disadvantage.
Nevertheless he acquits himself very well of even that difficult task.
Some people seem disappointed that Newman didn't take this chance to either reinvent himself, or totally go for broke.
The film itself might not have given him the opportunity to do so, especially if Spielberg only wanted very little music.
But also, from the new Newman scores I have, and from the interviews I've seen or read. Thomas Newman comes across and a very modest, gentle and unassuming person.
He doesnt strike me as the kind of person who would try to "outdo" John Williams. Or attempt in any way to put a stamp on the film above what he film the film needs.
Some have said that this is Newman's big chance, but I'm guessing he saw it more as a privilege to assume stewardship over a film that would otherwise be scored by his friend and mentor.
The first few and last few tracks made the most impression on me on my first listen, and I liked what I heard. I wish the choral parts would have played a greater role in the score. But other then that it sounds like a fine score.

It's actually classic Newman. The only part I'd credit to "Williams homage" is that shaky Copland-esque fanfare in the second cue.
In fact, I always thought Lincoln had shades of Newman at his most sentimental.

    Daredevil
The first adult entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and possibly it's finest hour.
This is essentially a slow-burn TV series, a product of the Golden Age of TV, rather then a TV extension of The Avengers or Captain America.
And while it might not quite have the depth and brilliance of lets say Breaking Bad, or True Detective, Daredevil gets a lot closer then I would have thought possible.
The cast is excellent, with the unknown to me Charlie Cox making a strong lead character. A blind man who spends his time both as a lawyer upholding the law, and as a vigilante beating people to a bloody pulp (the show doesnt shy away from proper violence).
Vincent D'Onofrio steals the show however with his performance of Kingping (always called Wilson Fisk in this show).
He creates the best, most captivating, layered and chilling villain of the MCU. The Marvel films have always suffered from rather generic baddies. D'Onofrio's Fisk is the exception. Enigmatic, but with a deeply shy and awkward demeanour which masks a ferocious temper, Wilson Fisk is a fascinating character to watch.
The whole cast is excellent btw.
I never read the comic, so I don't know if the similarity comes from the source material, but the show has a large stylistic similarity with the Batman films as done by Christopher Nolan. It asks some of the same questions about the role of a vigilante, and manages to say more with less dialogue. (though there is a lot of dialogue, well written. The show is full of lengthy character scenes)
Being a TV show it's obviously not as action heavy as Marvel's films, and that a good thing.
But the action is actually very good. Especially the impressive hallway fight in the second episode, done in one single take. (I like the fact that it doesn't just contain excellent martial arts choreography, but also moments when characters seem to stumble, need to catch their breath for a minute etc. It feels a bit more realistic then the polished fight-scenes we usually get.
Marvel's MCU films suffer a bit off late because every one of them seems to be made according to a set pattern. With a a big action scene every 15 to 20 minutes, and a massive climactic battle that takes up the last 30 minutes or so. Often well made, but always a bit too forgetable. With not too much actual substance.
Marvel's TV shows actually allow for more depth. Even the lightest of these (Agents Of Shield) has more diversity and shades of grey then the movies.
And with Daredevil Marvel shows that they can do better then Age Of Ultron or Thor: The Dark World. As long as there isnt a 250 million dollar investment involved.
