First time I've used AI for custom cover art. For reference, this was the heavily cropped production image I started with: Clearly it was cropped too tight to re-compose on an album cover. But using AI I was able to generate a wider image with more information, allowing me to re-compose the image for an album cover. But AI is clearly not going to replace a designer; in its current state, it is simply another, admittedly very powerful tool to help you get the results you desire. AI didn't generate the cover, I designed it using Photoshop. I only used Photoshop's integrated AI feature to extend the top of Pitt's head, and the bottom half of the Dalai Lama's gown. Designers aren't out of work yet. As @heidl said, AI is just another tool in a designer's toolkit that can be useful when working with less-than-ideal source material.
