Not cheap!

No, not quite, but it is the lowest the price has ever been. Does make me wonder, though, if it's a sign that a cheaper repackaged set may be on the way.

Way too expensive. The first two are good, but Rises was so damn overlong and boring.

Completely agree with all your points.

There already is. It came out before that set and has been on sale for $25 before.

But it doesn't have the sixth disc of bonus material. That's why I've been holding out for this one. Seeing as this is still double the price that one was, though, I may keep holding out for a better deal.

Who is interested in this?

I sure as hell am ! :biglaugh:

I've been waiting for ages for the second flick to appear on blu. I already have the first but not 4K, I don't imagine it will worth upgrading the first one, but the second film is one of those great guilty pleasure sequels, where you can see every cast member having fun. I can't believe the flak this film gets sometimes, it's almost as good as the first. Oh and will we be getting the Edelman score finally this year? Rumours say we finally will...

The 50th Anniversary set of Lawrence Of Arabia is on sale for $43.49.

Ordered mine last night and it's already here! It's easily one of the nicest sets I've seen/own. Up there with the Universal anniversary sets.

Looks good, but do you know what the "two unreleased tracks" are?

Thanks anyway, Fommes. I'll investigate tout suite.

The only essential difference between the Varese CD and the new Sony remaster is the upgraded transfer. Same tracks except for the "Exit Music" that plays after the End Title. To my knowledge, Varese didn't have access to the earliest-generation music stems the audio team at Sony does. So, except for the Exit Music, it is essentially the same program.
As stated above the CD re-issue of LoA from Varese (VSD-5263) has the full Exit Music, and the Entr'Acte is the Overture. It might even be the same performance? It's not on the Tadlow for that very reason.

So it's a funny sort of accounting that claims they're 'previously unreleased'.

And 'Lost in the Desert' (not present) is a different piece entirely than 'The Rescue of Gasim', which is the correct title. Also the 'End Credits' are in the Exit Music (called 'Playoff Music'), not the End Title.

So, if we assume the compiler making these claims only knows of the old original LP (as it would appear) one wonders if they also know at all about Tadlow and Silva Screen, let alone the Varese OST. And from THAT logic we assume that somebody in the company hasn't been properly informed about tie-ins. So much potential untapped.

There is a Universal Studios Steven Spielberg Blu Collection coming out that features some titles never before on Blu!

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Steven-Spielberg-Directors-Collection-Blu-ray/107538/

Duel

Sugarland Express

Jaws

1941

E.T.

Always

Jurassic Park

The Lost World

I REALLY hope the new titles will get individual releases right away, if at all. The only one I really want from the new titles is DUEL, for sure.

This forum topic shows the box art and special features. Seems to be the same bonus features ported over from the DVD releases. However, for 1941, it shows it as a two-sided disc, with both cuts of the film and bonus features.

I think all the titles in Universal's Hitchcock box got individual releases. Same as their classic monsters box.

Spielberg's releases aren't known for their extras. He's tight compared to other directors.

That's my TV hell, along with Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven and Diagnosis Murder.

What do you mean by TV hell?

You mean series that you don't like at all?

I mean if I went to hell after dying and the only programs on TV airing all day every day for all eternity were those four series I would be damned to eternal bland consciousness.

Sort of like JWFan at the moment, but a bit worse.

Joey, welcome back!

Where's the 2014 box office thread?

I was going to do one but decided not to. Strange year, nothing dominates and yet there have been two exceptional films worthy of breaking 400 million buck but won't even get close.

Have you seen any of this summer's films? I've only seen Godzilla. Though I'd love to see X-Men and Edge of Tomorrow

Yes. I loved X men, great film in most every way. Edge of Tomorrow is often brilliant, time will tell if it achieves that same status as Groundhog Day, but I think it is far superior. Maleficent was a wonderful "surprise". Not that I didn't think it could be good but that I would enjoy it at the level I did. We'll see Transformers this weekend but it's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes that I anticipate the most.

I also consider Winter Soldier a summer film and it's fantastic in it's own rights. Brilliant use of spy and superhero thrills.

Yea, I want to see Maleficent and Captain America 2 eventually as well. Dawn of the POTA I only want to see cause Giacchino scored it, wasn't a fan of Rise of the POTA

I agree. That was the second feature at the drive-in two weeks ago, after How to Train Your Dragon 2, and I enjoyed Maleficent more.

I've seen Captain America part dos, Gojira and X-Men 7. I will watch Guardians. No interest in Maleficent or that ape movie.

Nah, that was one I fancied beforehand but didn't really click with.

I've heard that Maleficent underwhelmed the critical fraternity, but I'm aware that the movie also has its fair amount of PWOM. Which turns it from a movie I had minimal interest in beforehand into a movie I will now definitely see.

Universal to release a Spielberg blu-ray collection: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=120110

Nice box art. Featuring a remastered and restored Duel! I hope I can buy it separately.

Now this is something I would want to watch, to finally hear Horner's masterpiece in context.

Then again watching it could taint my experience of listening to the score for all time. Surely a film with such a score can't possibly suck, can it? :sarcasm:
