crocodile 8,018
Yeah, more family oriented.Doesn't matter to me what the film is, any new score from Williams is a treasure at this point. If he's doing this project, then it means he wanted to do it - no one can force him into something he doesn't care about. And that's a good sign.Karol Incanus

Not Mr. Big 4,639
Me too. The inevitable comparison to Schindler's List would ruin the score and Cello solos are way to overused in modern film music.

TownerFan 4,983
Williams always seems particularly inspired from movies with a strong literary backbone (both Angela's Ashes and Memoirs of a Geisha come to mind, of course). The period setting is also another great source of inspiration. Last but not least, JW gives always his best when kids are the main characters of the film.I'm sure it'll be something special and unique.

filmmusic 1,838
Just crossed my mind:Do you know what would be entirely ORIGINAL for Williams? To write a score for a string quartet with maybe 2-3 instruments more.He has written for orchestra, we all know he can write, but such a score would be someting NEW! And totally UNEXPECTED!I'm even surprised that he hasn't written any concert music too for sting quartet.

TownerFan 4,983
There are plenty examples of chamber-sized pieces in many JW film scores, btw. But what filmmusic is meaning I guess it's an entire score written for a small group from beginning to end. I think the closest one to that is The Missouri Breaks. Not Mr. Big 4,639
I would prefer he write for the whole orchestra. His large scale Strings writing is better than any other film composers. Plus, the album might get repetitive IMHO.

filmmusic 1,838
Plus, the album might get repetitive IMHO. It's not the orchestration that counts but what do you do with the instruments you have.Let's not count the film scores that are scored for larger-than-life orchestras, and are repetitive all the way! (of course I mean by other composers)The Fountain by Mansell, was for a chamber ensemble from what I remember, and it was an exceptional score! So, imagine what Williams would do!
