Never really understood that concept of "Balance Of The Force", anyway.

Doesn't "balance" imply there are just as many Sith as there are Jedi? So that the dark side and light side exist in equal measure? If that's it, then there never was much balance to begin with, and killing Palpatine certainly didn't restore the balance!

I'm pretty sure Lucas was addicted to painkillers or some other drug when writing Phantom Menace (when he came up with all the chosen one/midichlorians bullshit).

My guess is that he took that little nugget from the Ying/Yang philosophy. The Force cribs from all sorts of religions and philosophical thinking.

In the Star Wars universe that must mean that the light and dark sides must always be of equal strength, which at no point in any of the films they ever are.

Seriously, Star Wars religion doesnt hold up in any way once you start thinking about it. Worse than "real" religions, worse than Star Trek even.

Do we even know if Jedi is meant to be singular in the title? I mean, sure, in some countries where the language makes a distinction, it clearly appears as singular in the title, but did the translators really put much care into such things back then? Did they follow Lucas' intentions/did Lucas tell them it was meant to be singular, or did they just assume it was singular? Maybe it's meant to be plural, and the Return Of The Jedi means the return of the Jedi Order.

That's always been my take. Obviously that has nothing to do with what Lucas intended at various times, of course. I've never really looked into that.

I personally love the spirituality in Star Wars, by the way, even if I don't completely understand every single bit of it.

The "returning Jedi" in the title of ROTJ is indeed Anakin Skywalker. This is in Luke Skywalker's biography on starwars.com:

Balance was brought back to the Force with Anakin's return to the Light Side, as instigated by his son Luke, a Jedi. So it's a return of the 'Jedi' plural.

How does the destruction of the Sith lead to balance?

The "balance of the Force" is FAKE NEWS spread by the LYING Jedi so that nobody would question their authority. Hopefully, someday, someone will restore the TRUTH and let everyone know Sith have been persecuted UNJUSTLY for centuries by the LYING Jedi.

The Sith are welcome to present alternate facts on this matter.

Now that sounds like a neat planet. Think "planet-sized Las Vegas".

Yes, ever since they started filming in Dubrovnik, I was entranced by that planet, and further descriptions from MSW have only heightened my anticipation.

I did see that MSW report yesterday (http://makingstarwars.net/2017/04/the-name-of-the-dubrovnik-planet-from-star-wars-the-last-jedi/).

Apparently photos of police helmets from shooting said "CBPD" in Aurebesh, so presumably that is "Canto Bight Police Department" (perhaps that would be an indication that this is the real name and not just a placeholder).

Personally, I don't really like the name as a planet name ... however, Jason Ward, who wrote the article, has admitted that it could actually be the name of one city, not the entire planet.

And ... I would love a planet named Canto with its major city named Canto Bight. Canto sounds like an awesome name. And Canto Bight would really fit the city because "bight" means "a curve or recess in a coastline, river, or other geographical feature." Look at Dubrovnik (ignore the bottom TFA concept art for "Exotic City") - right on the water!

Further news, by the way (SPOILERS):

Making Star Wars: Info on Benicio Del Toro's Ship, The Jail, and Two New Character Names or Codenames

That ship sounds awesome! I do hope that Del Toro name is a codename. Doesn't sound very Star Wars-y. However, Marie Tran's sounds Star Wars-y enough so I wouldn't mind if it was the real name.

Not just the fact that they've filmed in Dubrovnik. He's apparently seen set photos (some which have been posted publicly and some that haven't) and concept art, as well as spoken to people involved in the production.

And I trust him because:

a) He was right on the money on tons of TFA scoops (and definitely not just the kind of stuff you could guess), as well as his Rogue One reports, with very few exceptions (mostly, I believe, in the early days of TFA, due to an over-reliance on early concept art).

b) He generally avoids being overly sensationalist. To be sure, he approaches his reports with the enthusiasm of a die-hard fan, but I love that and don't see it as a weakness.

It's not that I don't trust him or anything. It's just that "the prequels meet Game Of Thrones" doesn't mean much to me, as I just can't picture how you could mesh these two things that couldn't possibly be much further apart from one another, visually. But, hey, who knows? Maybe when I'll see the film I'll be like: "Oh, I see what he meant by that! Spot-on!"

I haven't even watched Game of Thrones. But I think what he was referring to with Game of Thrones (and he clarified this) was the aspect of "high fashion," which I think from the few photos I've seen is definitely present in that show (and is also present in the prequels, which I have watched!). We'll hopefully see a little of what he's talking about soon, in any case, with the first trailer likely to come out next Friday.

There's nothing "high fashion" in Game Of Thrones!

Are you joking or serious? (Or are you not thinking of the same definition of "high fashion" that I am?)

@BloodBoal, the definition is, according to Google:

Quote
expensive, fashionable clothes produced by leading fashion houses

Yes, it's definitely debatable whether the Game of Thrones stuff I showed above expressly fits the definition (or other colloquial definitions that may exist), but in any case I do believe that it was this rather flamboyant style (at least in comparison to the dirty, grimy fashion in much of the SW universe) that Ward was referring to. Other stuff MSW has reported supports that interpretation.
