Corellian2019 386
It was Flight of the Intruder. The ordeal is recounted here: https://perspectiveforum.net/2016/05/22/finding-family-with-basil-poledouris/ Naïve Old Fart

blondheim 1,157
The worst part is they delayed Flight of the Intruder and he could have done both. It stings. 12 hours ago, Hedji said: I have to admire your discipline and loyalty. It's too bad there isn't even a rejected score to compare, because it's always fun to play "What If?' But I actually get resisting a certain composer just because. I'm sort of the same way with James Newton Howard and John Powell for no good reason. Sometimes it's hard to get out of our own dogmatic way. You never know where the music will take you, though. I've got a handful of Barry on my shelves, and am now wanting more because of this. I'm convinced some of my inclination towards Barry's mellow composition has to do with aging and the occasional need for soothing pastoral music. I actually like quite a bit of other Barry and I am quite sure I would like this too. It's an odd little situation. I just... don't want to like it? It's perverse. I'm loyal to an imaginary score that doesn't exist. Angry loyal. I don't know why I care so much, it's not Barry's fault. I feel much the same with the latter Harry Potter scores, and all the inevitably brilliant JW cues/themes we were robbed from hearing. I'll probably feel the same about the Avatar sequel scores without Horner. Of course, snubs like Arnold's ID42 or Davis' Matrix 4 are so much worse, because both composers were alive and available to return if the directors weren't so pigheaded (and the replacement scores left much to be desired). All that said, I don't want to live in a world where Barry's theme for Two Socks never existed. It's utterly gorgeous, and the score proper is glorious. Few pieces of film music reach the heights of Farewell And End Title, but Barry made it seem effortless. Yavar Moradi, Edmilson and Andy

crumbs 14,345
My copy arrived just two days ago. So happy to finally have a John Barry score in my collection! Fingers crossed I can add a few Bond scores in the next few years, if LLL can resume their work with EON. Bespin

crocodile 8,027
Shame, it is a really nice set actually. For years, I was avoiding the other extended disc due to my worries it would be an overkill. But the LLL one really changed my mind. It feels, oddly, less repetitive than the original album. Glad I picked it up a couple of years ago. Popular Post Bellosh 3,437
i love how the score begins and ends with the military version of Dunbar's theme (probably my favorite theme from the film, and hearing it in other cues like 'Spit and Polish' makes this expansion so special to me) It opens so hopeful in a very unhopeful cue title 'Main Title/Looks Like a Suicide'. It almost has a sunrise sound to it with the trumpet. The dawn of something new. and then at the very end of the end titles, a very very somber rendition, for obvious reasons. it sounds like his character and hopes being buried, like a soldiers death. i love when a theme can sound hopeful and sad based on how it's played. Ollie 1,059
This is one of those multi dip scores for me. I had the original release, mistakingly bought the gold disc release (did not read the back to see what the extra tracks were), the first expansion, and then the LLL. Might be my favorite Barry score, aside from King Kong. Yavar Moradi and Bellosh
Naïve Old Fart 9,590
DANCES WITH WOLVES is a fine score, but KING KONG dances all over its head, and goes "Cock-a-doodle-doo!". Good day to you, sir. Ollie and bruce marshall 1

Popular Post Edmilson 7,497
Kong is good, don't get me wrong, especially the emotional music for his tragic demise. But I just love Barry in his epic/sweeping mode, and Dances with Wolves is the culmination of that. One of my top 10 scores ever. Bellosh 3,437
it's in my top 10 scores of all time too, maybe top 5! Two Socks theme is so beautiful. Has hints of playfulness and sadness. But holy fuck when he dies in the film...I usually have to fast foward it. It sends me into a fit of sadness. Holko and Yavar Moradi
