rpvee 557
https://www.carnegiehall.org/Calendar/2024/02/22/An-Evening-with-John-Williams-and-Yo-Yo-Ma-0700PM Quote The great John Williams conducts The Philadelphia Orchestra and Yo-Yo Ma in a program of his iconic film scores and the spectacular Cello Concerto. Composed for Ma in 1994, its four movements feature “as much variety and contrast as possible,” notes Williams. The opening Theme and Cadenza casts the cello in a “hero’s role,” while the Blues movement conjures “ghosts of Ellington and Strayhorn.” The Scherzo is about “speed, deftness, and sleight of hand;” while the lyrical finale highlights the “greatest” of Ma’s gifts: his “ability to ‘connect’ with every individual in his audience.” Just a couple days after what’s likely the same concert program in Philadelphia. These sorts of things are cyclical; they go up and down, you know, like that handheld toy with a string (sorry, I cannot remember what it is called). And to your real point, yes, let's hope this new piece is substantial and quickly comes to fruition. igger6 772
More cello film arrangements, please. Hey, you know what would sound great on cello (besides everything)? The Love Theme from The Terminal! (As I type this, my iPod just served up Robert Folk's theme from Beastmaster 2, which would also sound great on cello, and which Williams is welcome to arrange if he wants to bring back the "Por Una Cabeza" days while he's at it.) JohnnyD 1,150
Well, it looks like this is becoming a yearly tradition for me since Across the Stars concert in 2022 at Carnegie Hall, with this year attending the concert at David Geffin Hall. Will need to bundle up for this one, though.
Cerebral Cortex 3,156
So I'm a bit confused how this works. Have tickets already gone on sale and you need a Carnegie Hall subscription to order them now? Or do you need a subscription to access pricing information but you can't currently order tickets but will be able to at a later date?
JohnnyD 1,150
I was wondering about that myself.
Popular Post Cerebral Cortex 3,156
Okay, to summarize based on me making multiple calls to the sales office: Tickets range in price from $109 to $175 dollars. ►You can purchase balcony section tickets NOW IF: You are a Carnegie subscriber1 (approx. $150) You can get balcony seats now and then exchange them for better seats for free starting August 14th if better seats are available. ►You can purchase tickets NOW for any seat IF: You are a Carnegie subscriber (approx. $150). You pay for the Gala package (donation fee of approx. $1000 ) Gala package includes the Gala event that coincides with the concert and will have more details released at a later time. ►You can purchase tickets on August 14th for any seat IF: You are a Carnegie subscriber (approx. $150) ►Otherwise, you can purchase tickets on August 21st because that is when the ticket office opens to the general public. ---------- NOTE: Tickets are not refundable and all sales are final. You can only exchange tickets for free if you are a subscriber. 1 - Carnegie subscriber means you have purchased a "series subscription." There are different subscriptions you can purchase. The Williams/Ma event isn't attached to any specific series subscription. It's called an add-on event, meaning you can claim this event as one of the things you can use your subscription on. I believe he said a subscription can start at around $150 or something around there. The series subscriptions are packages for multiple concert events you can choose to claim with your series subscription. Think of it as you getting a couple tokens that you can use to cash in on Carnegie Hall events. You can spend one of those tokens on this Williams/Ma event. @JohnnyD Smeltington, rpvee and Damien F 2

JohnnyD 1,150
Definitely getting tickets the moment they are available to order on August 21. Also, I am going to see if I can attend the gala dinner as well. Cerebral Cortex
