Hello all, long time lurker, but had to register today to revive this thread, because I just found this and now I don't have the courage to open it :S

Wow. I don't know what to tell you. I'm a firm believer in CDs / Books / Toys are meant to be enjoyed. But damn, that looks pretty.

 

Mine is literally three feet away from me right now and all the discs are ripped to the computer I'm typing on and those pictures still take my breath away!

I would 100% keep it sealed. I can’t imagine there are many, if any, still totally sealed copies in existence. And the contents can be easily found online these days, so it’s not like anything unique is inside.

I just can say, I am glad, I opened it when I got it and spent numerous hours of joy listening to the music, reading the liner notes etc. 

But when I am gone all these moment will be lost like tears in the rain.

But when you are long rotten there will still be this sealed box-set and people will ask themself "Who owned this? And why on earth didn't he open it? Is it bad or broken? Or was he just to stupid to remove the foil?"

So, this will be some kind of legacy of yours. A stretch beyond death.

A value of its own.

I've never been into that whole collector mentality myself. I mean, I collect John Williams soundtracks, but they're to be used, not treasured like some Gollum-like ring. Tear that foil!

I think I will keep it sealed, at least for a while. Although I'm a collector at heart, I usually open and enjoy things, but in this case, I have the music in digital form... the booklet is around here as I've seen it, so it would be just for the experience of opening something that's 30+ years.
