Is it a coincidence that Torn Curtain is missing from that list Hitch?

Don't bury yourself in the part!

Does anyone know what the deal is with Twisted Nerve? Has anyone ever seen it? I knew it had to be Herrmann when that piece started playing in Kill Bill . As short as it is, I find it truely mesmerizing and am left desperatley wanting to hear more.

Just added Jane Eyre, the 1994 Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra re-recording from Marco Polo.

I'll be curious to see what your reaction will be when you hear track 6. ;)

When I hear this track, I'm picturing a pretty spaceship with a lovely singing voice. I wonder why? ;)

I used to have The Egyptian but sold it - I agree with you Marian, it is very dull and I have to say I was very dissapointed as you would think that two power-house composers combining talents would produce something special. Mmmm, the Batman Begins scenario just sprung to mind...... :music:

How many of us ordered Fahrenheit 451 from Varese as a result of this thread?   :lsvader:

Neil

I know I did. Maybe we should e-mail them with a link to this thread and ask for a percentage off our next purchase. :)

I did; after fillin my cart with the new Club releases on Monday, I looked around to see if there was one CD I could add from their Web Exclusive sections, saw this one, remembered the recommendations here, and added it to my order while listening to the samples.

Conclusion: thank you all for your valuable input!

"More Herrmann" was on my to-buy list, but this discussion

:fouetaa: "The Fire Engine" from FAHRENHEIT 451

Good to see you still appreciate him.

Michael Moore's commentary is a howl.

There's a difference... Egyptian was scored by TWO great composers.

Marian - :fouetaa:

I concur. Who needs Zimmer anyway.

Hitch, disappointed that Zimmer is scoring THE DA VINCI CODE instead of Jimmy Horner.

Just got Fahrenheit 451 from Varese yesterday. This was my first dealing with them and I must say I was impressed. Got the cd faster than I expected. The score is fantastic... too bad there is so little of it.

I love the "stringsy" approach. Anyway, better a short interesting life than a long boring one.

Unfortunately I own only:

Citizen Kane (McNeely version)

Psycho (McNeely version)

Taxi Driver (Arista Archives complete score)

Vertigo (McNeely version)

As much as I like Hermann I must say his music is the most frightning I have ever heard. No one can inject music more foreboding, uneasiness and sheer horror than Hermann. Most scores I have heard from him are down right creepy. His way of scoring people's psyche(especially the nether regions of it) is really unsurpassed. One of the true film music titans.

My BZC (Blood/Zimmer Content) is neutralized by all the other scores in my collection. Take a look at what I've got, just click on the signature. Many of you probably just see me as some Zimmer-loving freak, but all I do is support him.
