#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
The reuse fees might be less. The paperwork might be more though.
crumbs 14,317
If any team can work through all the legal issues though, it's Matessino and LLL.

Composers can get it wrong, or the director may have a brilliant idea. Diagon Alley and First Night work waaaayy better than the original cues. No, just no. I don't want the same cue twice in the C&C just because the filmmakers edited it that way. Whose intention it is doesn't matter. What matters is that everything is included. When there are seven cues I want all of them: 1234567 and not: 1264567 one of them twice and another gets dumped. Whether it would have worked in the movie doesn't matter at all. "Drop Out" from Alien would have been inappropriate as hell in the movie - so exclude it from the main program? - No! Holko 9,526
If we go by LLL's track record (Jurassic collection), recreated film edits should end up in the bonus section. Except for Chamber where the tracked cues were intended and don't replace anything.

I see it as an opportunity to present the music in the way the composer wrote it before it was subjected to the post production editorial process. If the composer's original version was not used but a new composition was written then by all means present the film version in the main programme and relegate the original alternate to the bonus section. But to include tracked material to recreate film edits is most of the time just a waste of space and highly unsatisfactory. Richard Penna 3,694
I should clarify that in any case the composer's intention should always be there, but that if the film has a revised version then that version should be in the main program. I'm also trying to highlight that wanting tracked film edits shouldn't be viewed as betraying the composer's original intentions. If it's been done for a creative reason then I may want to hear the result of that. I think the most notable bits of tracking in this score were well judged and work better than what JW wrote. bollemanneke

Incanus 5,715
Not everybody reads ironic so fluently here. Especially when such things as complete John Williams scores are concerned. We take our Williams seriously. Very seriously. crumbs and bollemanneke 1

Richard Penna 3,694
LLL might be doing a public service if they just said yep, we're doing it, but it might not be out for BF.
Brundlefly 2,385
5 years ago, they did all these WB titles. Back then they might have started with HP as well.
