Composer_Fan 2 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Unfortunately, the people I saw the movie with weren't die-hard JW fans like me, so they only sat there for so long. We ended up leaving during BOTH in the credits sequence.
Greg1138 3 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Stayed right through it......and was diappointed at the extreme lack of Throne Room!! The staff tried to usherme out, but hey! I paid £6 to see the whole movie! Not just what they wanted me to see!! I'm always arguing with them over that.....worth it thoug, I usually get free tickets as an apology!!
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Nice, Greg. LOLThe people I went with are used to me sitting all the way to the end of the credits by now. When we did the LotR EE marathon with the same group I insisted we'd play all of the credits, even though FotR's are about 40 minutes long. So yes, I stayed. As did another 70 or so people, all apparently big Star Wars fans (this lot cheered and applauded the most), and probably more than a few John Williams fans. 8O
TheTennisBallKid 27 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Yes. The second time my father tried to drag me out, but how many times do you get to hear this music on that large a sound system? I stayed. 8Ottbk
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I stood, as about 20 people in the cinema. When it finished someone applauded and we all did 8O
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 There was some applause when the 20th Century Fox logo finally appeared after 20 minutes of BS commercials and trailers, but there was a massive cheer and applause when the words "STAR WARS" spread across the screen and the main title theme thundered through the theatre. 8O
Luke Skywalker 2,385 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 here there was bashing in the 20th FOX fanfare, since the sound guy made a joke, putting off the sound.Really wise to do that with a bunch of geeks...
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 The wrath of geeks is not to be underestimated.
King Mark 3,975 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Was Jame Earl Jones voicing Vader in Suit?I didn't catch his name in the credits?Maybe it's just his voice reconstructed digitally.K.M.
MrScratch 296 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Stayed right through it......and was diappointed at the extreme lack of Throne Room!!  The staff tried to usherme out, but hey!  I paid £6 to see the whole movie!  Not just what they wanted me to see!!  I'm always arguing with them over that.....worth it thoug, I usually get free tickets as an apology!!I'm going to try this next time! Thanks Jeff
Jeshopk 8 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Yes, it was James Earl Jones in ROTS. I thought it was actually quite sad to hear his few lines as the last shreds of the caring Anakin. When next he appears in Episode IV, he's clearly nothing left to care for but his own power, that is until he finds out he has a son.I think I'll see this movie a second time tonight, if my wife will accompany.I'm trying to avoid WOTW news and music until I see it in theatres. I keep reading/hearing spoilers for every JW movie. Not good!
diskobolus 3 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I stay for the credits for highly anticipated films, as well as anything Williams has scored.
Magnus 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Sadly, my friends couldn't give a rats ass about Williams nor the End Credits, thus I was forced out
Trumpeteer 304 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I stayed. Though people kept standing up and blocking the view of the screen. But that didn't matter; I was sticking around for the music.I never realized how beautiful Leia's theme was until hearing its concert version in the credits. Of all the re-recorded themes, I enjoyed hearing that again.
I'm always arguing with them over that.....worth it thoug, I usually get free tickets as an apology!!I'm going to try this next time! Thanks JeffYeah - it's well worth a go....also worth a go is when they shine the torch into your eyes to see if you are still awake (or is it only in the UK they do that during the credits????) - complain that you were distracted and had to discuss it with the offending torch-bearerm and therefore missed part of the movie that you just paid to see! That's a good'un too.....worth a free large Coke at your next visit at least ........not that I'm a serial complainer, but when you spend your hard-earned, you should get what you pay for!
SeekUYoda 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Yes, of course. The only time I've ever skipped the credits on a JW movie was The Patriot - it was about 4am and ...erm... nature.... But I've never gotten any grief from an usher about it, though! There are usually quite a few people listening when the films first come out. I imagine if I go see ROTS again in a couple months, I'll be one of about 4 people left at the end.
fommes 165 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Unfortunately, the people I saw the movie with weren't die-hard JW fans like me, so they only sat there for so long. We ended up leaving during BOTH in the credits sequence.I would select new friends, if I were you.Option A.
Romão 2,473 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I always stay through the credits in all JW score films or films that have at least a respectable score.
Kendal_Ozzel 36 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I always stay through credits. I paid to see those credits! They're part of the film. It's where the composer gets to shine. And without all those people there, there would be no movie. And there might be funny stuff afterwards. And then sometimes, I like to make fun of people's last names. And you never know what kind of interesting stuff you'll find in there. Like that Hayden Christensen's stunt double was Peter Jackson.
Justin 2 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 And you never know what kind of interesting stuff you'll find in there. Like that Hayden Christensen's stunt double was Peter Jackson.Yes I noticed that as well. Quite awesome. I never miss the credits either.Justin - Who's only had trouble with the staff during credits on Star Trek - Nemesis and Master and Commander.
ChrisAfonso 237 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 And then sometimes, I like to make fun of people's last names. Yeah, that's the best part of it apart from the music and the occasional easter egg Having a blast with some friends spotting the weirdest names of the world (of which everymovie has at least 10)
Olivier 5 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Skipping the end credits is a sin. That's the first step toward Sithship. And sometimes you're rewarded with a little something at the end-- but the true reward naturally is the music (when it really is music). So, yes, I stayed. As for the trailers & commercials, they usually last 15 minutes here (France), whatever theater you go.This time, they lasted 30 minutes (with only 4 trailers, maybe 5)! People were getting angry, and the first few images got a round of applause.People applauded the movie at the end, too.
John Crichton 4 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I stayed for Episode III, as I do for all Williams films. For other composers it depends on who it is. Or if I know that there's going to be some end credits easter egg.Speaking of, those who didn't stay during the end credits of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy missed a real treat!
RuBen_Kenobi 20 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I have seen the movie 5 times (one the preview the 18th, three times the thursday and one time on friday) and watch the credits two times...
Mr. Breathmask 624 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I wanted to stay until the end of Pirates of the Caribbean, because I knew there was a little bit after the credits. However, the asshats at the theatre apparently wanted me out, so they just turned off the movie!
Saxbabe 28 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I agree with Kendal I ALWAYS stay for the credits. And it's fun watching all the other people leaving wondering about the one "odd" person still sitting there. I was just going to mention Hitchhiker's Guide. Saw that last night with my uncle who is a huge old-school HHTTG fan and we got a good laugh out of the nugget in the credits!Greta
Jim Ware 638 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I was the only person to stay to the end of the credits, much to the annoyance of the cinema cleaning staff.
orrakul 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I always watch the credits for a film that JW has scored - I've never had any cinema staff try and force me out (though they probably think it's a weird thing to do).

Jeez - that's got to worth a free family ticket at least!! Cheeky beggars!!
igor 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Olivier, did you watch it at the Max Linder on opening night, your description of it seems uncannily close. On another hand, I really loved Merkel's description of the movie experience he went through, exactly what I felt. And, KM, I also went with 8 friends. It was a blast. Problem is, at 2 30 in the morning there is almost no public transportation left over here in Paris, so we had to walk for a while. Got back home at 4!!Igor
igor 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Oh, and A NEW HOPE becomes a much more powerful film after Episode 3, especially the first half before we meet Han Solo. Lots of stuff are now clearly defined. An example is Vader's desire to square off with Obiwan alone. Before it was this typical bad guy line, now it is revenge!!! Very interesting stuff. You now FEEL that Ben is summoned back to action after a long period of isolation. LOts of things going on...Amazing, how Lucas conceived it.Igor
fommes 165 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Ben, now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. Even before you were born.
Olivier 5 Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 Olivier, did you watch it at the Max Linder on opening night, your description of it seems uncannily close.Nope.UGC Ciné-Cité Les Halles, Opening Day, 9h45, in English (always in English).
Hitch 60 Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I stayed until I saw John Williams' name on the screen. After that I was escorted from the throne room by 6 Laker girls.Hitch
harrychen 0 Posted May 27, 2005 Posted May 27, 2005 On opening day, I stayed, with only one other guy. Second time, only my wife and I remained, so we left halfway through, oh well... I do stay through most end credits unless there's others with me. What do you expect, English language credits in a city where most people don't speak the language? It's much better than a few years ago, when they'd switch off the projector during the credits, now they can't do that if there's still people in the auditorium... I'll stay when I see it a third time, soon.
Melange 448 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 No i didn't stay for the credits. Couldn't be bothered.
Melange 448 Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 P.S : For those who found torches shone in their eyes (personally i've never had that before in the UK), or found the movie switched off. It's better to go and see a movie in one of those huge multiplex cinemas to avoid that. There are so many screens, and if you go during the day nobody seems to give a damn. You could spend the rest of the day in there and i dont think anybody would notice. I stayed right till the end when watching ST:Nemesis. My parents had a hilarious incident several years back at a cinema in a town where the cinema was a tiny garage affair. The owner was an ex-headmaster and actually had the cheek to "stop" the movie halfway through, stand up on the podium and "reprimand" customers for bringing their own food and drink, and gave them a moral lesson about how he was trying to make as much cash a poss and they were ruining it for him (perhaps drop the absurd prices he was charging then?). Also, when the movie finished he played about 1 minutes of credits and shut it off because he wanted "the next lot in". Needless to say, the vast majority of adults in the cinema were deeply offended by this condescending egomaniac who forgot he was no longer a headmaster, and never returned to his cinema. P.S : The cinema has since shut (not suprisingly).
