Wojo 2,458 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 We didn't need more Star Wars movies either. But Disney bought the rights and needs to always be making and releasing movies. So......
Damien F 2,080 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 To be honest, if the studios are going to reboot the series (and I wish they didn't), but if they did, Pratt has the charisma and screen presence to pull it off. Weren't there rumors of Bradley Cooper being associated with the role at one point, which I didn't like one bit.The best thing about a possible reboot is the possibility of an Indy score with someone like Giacchino or Desplat using the original themes, assuming Williams doesn't return. If they hire Zimmer, I think I might just quit new cinema entirely. He can write decent music at times, but he is such a bad fit for the franchise.
A. A. Ron 2,485 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Do we really need more Indiana Jones after 4 movies? We didn't need even one Indy movie.
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Disney is planning to reboot Indiana Jones, starring Chris Pratt http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/403673-chris-pratt-sought-for-indiana-jones-rebootwowI like it!Can't wait for Giacchino's score! KarolI bet he could pull it off pretty well.
Quintus 6,499 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Now I understand how those old original 007 fans felt when they saw someone replace Connery and why they'll always say he was the best Bond.Seeing this is going to be a little sad and a lot weird for me, truly like an end of an era. Ford as Indiana Jones was my childhood hero, but it's time for some other kid to idolise another actor in the iconic role, and that's okay.Good casting.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I agree, its gonna be weird. My brain might not want to accept it!
Quintus 6,499 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Getting the tone right is going to be so hard for Pratt and the director, like, almost impossible. But good luck to them.If Star Wars is good then they should keep ahold of Lawrence Kasdan.
Sir Hilary Bray 235 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Part of me entertained the notion of Nick Offerman as Indy. For a moment. It'll be interesting. Fortune or glory kid.
Quintus 6,499 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 And I realise it's a reboot, but they would be dumb fools to do away with the theme, even if they had to power anthem it up a bit or whatever else they feel they must do in order to make it sound modern and 'cool'. Because that music, that melody is very much 50% of the required tone already delivered and ready for use.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 I hope Zimmer will keep it yes! It's like the Bond theme. It belongs with the character.
Koray Savas 2,260 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 That's what they said about Superman!
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Indiana Jones is different though. The music is more closely tied with the character. John Williams' Superman theme was written after decades of history (and themes) of Superman.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Yes!Hence my mention of the Bond theme. Even the Star Trek reboot still used the Courage fanfare. Its part of the DNA
Not Mr. Big 5,011 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 If the movie features the hat, the whip, and the theme then it's an Indiana Jones movie. If it's missing any of those, then it's not. Plain and simple.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 The whip is a symbol of slavery, torture, oppression and animal cruelty!
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Only in the Pilgrim house
Code 000. Destruct. 0. 4,262 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Don't marginalize our culture, fascist!
Xander Harris 9,677 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Of course this is going to happen. Reboots of Indiana Jones, Star Wars, a million spinoff Star Wars movies and TV shows, etc.
Jill Sandwich 11,171 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 It needs to be set in the future where Indy goes into space, or the space between spaces, with a brilliantly boring score by Hans Zimmer. Not Mr. Big and Xander Harris 2
Matt C 605 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Do we really need more Indiana Jones after 4 movies?Disney can't just make endless Star Wars movies, they're going to milk Lucasfilm from top to bottom. There's a reason they straightened out ownership and profit-sharing with Paramount last year regarding future Indiana Jones movies. The fact that Disney is eyeing Chris Pratt for Indiana Jones doesn't bother me, it's not going to invalidate the beloved older movies or anything. It's possible Spielberg looked at a rough cut of Jurassic World and suggested Pratt as a replacement.
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Will they remake Tucker: A Man And His Dreams and Willow? Xander Harris 1
Incanus 5,891 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Do we really need more Indiana Jones after 4 movies?Do we really need more John Williams after God knows how many scores? Geoff Zanelli is going to score it and you know it!

Incanus 5,891 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Yeah, they're just wasting their time composing shitty music!BloodBoal scores, he hits! Those composers are going down!

Jill Sandwich 11,171 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 They do far less. Their output is pittance compared to our deep and intellectual discussions on JGfan.
JoeinAR 1,957 Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 No. More.they might get more publicity but there is no proof that they are doing quantitatively more work.
Luke Skywalker 2,386 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 What is this talk-rumour about Disney exec wanting to cast Chris Pratt as indy for new films?Even if Harrison is interested in doing a 5th...
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 12,392 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 There is no question.

Luke Skywalker 2,386 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I just found it out today... and i thought it bewildering.I was asking if its just a rumour or they are really considering this.

nightscape94 968 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I'm not against Chris Pratt being Indy.
Xander Harris 9,677 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I just found it out today... and i thought it bewildering.I was asking if its just a rumour or they are really considering this.It makes perfect sense. Disney bought Lucasfilm, which includes iconic franchises and guaranteed moneymakers. Of course they're going to reboot Indiana Jones with some hip new actor. I've been expecting this.
