Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (James Mangold, June 30 2023)

To be honest, if the studios are going to reboot the series (and I wish they didn't), but if they did, Pratt has the charisma and screen presence to pull it off. Weren't there rumors of Bradley Cooper being associated with the role at one point, which I didn't like one bit.

The best thing about a possible reboot is the possibility of an Indy score with someone like Giacchino or Desplat using the original themes, assuming Williams doesn't return. If they hire Zimmer, I think I might just quit new cinema entirely. He can write decent music at times, but he is such a bad fit for the franchise.

Now I understand how those old original 007 fans felt when they saw someone replace Connery and why they'll always say he was the best Bond.

Seeing this is going to be a little sad and a lot weird for me, truly like an end of an era. Ford as Indiana Jones was my childhood hero, but it's time for some other kid to idolise another actor in the iconic role, and that's okay.

Good casting.

Getting the tone right is going to be so hard for Pratt and the director, like, almost impossible. But good luck to them.

If Star Wars is good then they should keep ahold of Lawrence Kasdan.

And I realise it's a reboot, but they would be dumb fools to do away with the theme, even if they had to power anthem it up a bit or whatever else they feel they must do in order to make it sound modern and 'cool'. Because that music, that melody is very much 50% of the required tone already delivered and ready for use.

Do we really need more Indiana Jones after 4 movies?

Disney can't just make endless Star Wars movies, they're going to milk Lucasfilm from top to bottom. There's a reason they straightened out ownership and profit-sharing with Paramount last year regarding future Indiana Jones movies.

The fact that Disney is eyeing Chris Pratt for Indiana Jones doesn't bother me, it's not going to invalidate the beloved older movies or anything. It's possible Spielberg looked at a rough cut of Jurassic World and suggested Pratt as a replacement.

Do we really need more Indiana Jones after 4 movies?

Do we really need more John Williams after God knows how many scores?

Geoff Zanelli is going to score it and you know it!

Much like Lorne Balfe, Ladd McIntosh or Ramin Djawadi.

No. More.

they might get more publicity but there is no proof that they are doing quantitatively more work.

I just found it out today... and i thought it bewildering.

I was asking if its just a rumour or they are really considering this.

It makes perfect sense. Disney bought Lucasfilm, which includes iconic franchises and guaranteed moneymakers. Of course they're going to reboot Indiana Jones with some hip new actor. I've been expecting this.
