What scores have been ruined for you by their expansion?
Thor replied to GerateWohl's topic in General Discussion
Yes. I had a CD-R boot of the complete TOD once, and it almost ruined my entire appreciation of the score. Thank God I chucked it in the trash before it was too late, and I could start listening to my gorgeous Japanese OST import again, rebuilding my love of the score. As for 1941, I can only take so much swing and march music before I go completely bonkers, so the OST presents the exact right cut-off point at 39 minutes. Even that is stretching it. -

Will The Sugarland Express finally be released for its 50th Anniversary?
Thor replied to crumbs's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Yes, that's it. Thankfully, we did get a handful of Williams premieres out in this 'wild west' time. -
MORTAL ENGINES really grew on me the second time I watched it. Steampunk isn't easy to do; it can often come off as goofy (WILD WILD WEST, for example), but there's enough richness in the world of MORTAL ENGINES, I needed two attempts to get into it. But when I did, I really liked it. Underrated film.

What scores have been ruined for you by their expansion?
Thor replied to GerateWohl's topic in General Discussion
Was a close call a few times, though. -
I'll be seeing it tomorrow. I've never been wild with this franchise (neither old films nor new films), but a mild interest.

No, it's perfect. The heavy metal music video car chase aesthetic of the first was brilliantly mirrored in Holkenborg's no-nonsense approach, as were the slow and majestic pieces. One of the very best scores that year, without question. Can't wait to see FURIOSA in a couple of weeks (and hear the score)!

Yes, almost always. Fortunately, I've rid myself of the expansion in time. -
What's a score you wished John Williams did?
Thor replied to Courtney Sees Ghosts's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
There's still so much unheard Williams out there to find (many TV things, for example), in addition to the great amounts that are already out there that can be listened to, that I can't invest much time or energy in thinking about what he didn't do, or could and should have done over the years.- 192 replies

Thor replied to crumbs's topic in JOHN WILLIAMS
Perhaps, but as a completist, I would need to have this regardless. Doubt it's going to happen while Williams is still alive, though. -
What Amazon show? THE GRAY MAN was rather disappointing and generic, yes. I haven't seen CHERRY. But as producers, they've done some fine things post-Marvel. The two EXTRACTION movies and RELIC are great. Also, the super-chilling show FROM -- very Stephen King.
