Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 http://www.disneymusicemporium.com/rgshop/star-wars-the-force-awakens/12/18 soundtrack release date. It's the perfect release date if you ask me. I might (probably won't) try and skip the samples and preview tracks to give the movie a "fresh" experience. Is Disney releasing this? Incanus and Cerebral Cortex 2
Balahkay 629 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Well, that debunks the January release rumor. I'm happy with this release date.
nightscape94 967 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Great news! This works in my favor since it's released the same day as the movie. That way I can preorder, have the CD, and listen to it immediately after the movie! Not Mr. Big 1
Incanus 5,858 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Really happy about the soundtrack release date info. Makes sense to tie it in with the movie release date (as per normal). Also I really like the designs for the film we have seen thusfar. Much more OT vibe than the Prequels as they seem to have taken OT as the aesthetic starting point but naturally developed it into a new direction.
peter.anschutz 43 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I'm torn between wanting to hear the score as soon as I have the CD in hand and waiting to hear it with the film. I think I'll compromise by just listening to the Main Titles track, because I know all the Star Wars nerds will be cheering loudly in the theater as soon as the opening chord is sounded and STAR WARS jumps onto the screen. I want to hear a fresh recording of the main theme without the hooting and hollering, thank you very much.

Incanus 5,858 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I doubt it. Just a temporary one until they get the real one I'd wager.
aj_vader 598 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 You can pre-order on Amazon and they have a Standard and Deluxe Version! http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B014V6JIQK?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages00 They both say 1 disc
#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,949 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 They can't be worse then Sony Classical! Cerebral Cortex 1
Matt C 541 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I bet J.J. Abrams had input with the OST release day-and-date with the film. Usually the CD comes out Tuesday beforehand. (Even the KOTCS CD came out the day before the film's release.)I can understand directors wanting to keep the film's secrets, but this is ridiculous.
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Everybody stopped using Tuesday as a release date. Not just Star Wars A. A. Ron 1
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 They can't be worse then Sony Classical! Now that I think about it, the Tron: Legacy releases were pretty horrible. Cues spread over several different album in varying audio quality.
Bespin Copilot 9,633 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I'll probably buy the record at my music store the day of it's release. But wait till I saw the movie to listen to it (will I be that patient...).

luke905 18 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Listen to the music in this video dedicated to the BB-8 yoy.Does anyone know where this music comes from?
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Sounds midi at first and then it doesn't. Probably a Holst piece or something.
Incanus 5,858 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I'll probably buy the record at my music store the day of it's release. But wait till I saw the movie to listen to it (will I be that patient...). You still have music stores?!!! Bespin Copilot 1

mstrox 7,222 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I preordered from Amazon. I'll consider revising or cancelling, depending on if there are bonus tracks somewhere.
Not Mr. Big 4,818 Posted September 4, 2015 Author Posted September 4, 2015 Something similar can be heard here: Yeah, what is that? It sounds a bit like another composer emulating John Williams.
King Mark 3,834 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 so, it's the standard 1 disk OSTI was hoping,just this once, we'd get a deluxe 2 c.d. set
Incanus 5,858 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 so, it's the standard 1 disk OSTI was hoping, just this once, we'd get a deluxe 2 c.d. setIt is Williams, what did expect. 2 disc complete score for the deluxe edition?
Richard P 4,779 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 The day you mistook some random composer's (probably not Jablonsky's) music for JW, is the day you cost us a two disc set, KM. This is payback!
King Mark 3,834 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Just a bit more than we get usually. I'd take a bunch of exclusive bonus tracks scattered elsewhere
A. A. Ron 2,264 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Yes!! Both movie and film come out the day before my birthday!Probably gonna see the movie, then pop the CD into the car stereo for a first listen on the way home.
Balahkay 629 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 What's the difference between the standard and deluxe editions? A few more tracks on the deluxe?
fommes 161 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 It's made from card, and should be more environment-friendly in case you want to toss it. Jilal 1
Matt C 541 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Why are people worrying about the sound quality? Williams' recent scores have sounded great.
nightscape94 967 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 The chances of this recording sounding bad are none to none.
Giftheck 1,109 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Great news! When can we start a Sequel Music Resource thread to discuss all the music they left off the OST?
nightscape94 967 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 Never tell me the odds. They're certainly better than navigating an asteroid field.
Ricard 2,318 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 What's the difference between the standard and deluxe editions?Standard jewel case vs. digipack.A few more tracks on the deluxe?Very unlikely...

Richard P 4,779 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 I suspect someone unfamiliar with the semantics of film score releases has written that.
Luke Skywalker 2,205 Posted September 4, 2015 Posted September 4, 2015 GUys this CD will contain the 40 minutes of original music Williams composed for the film. The adapted cues bt Williams Ross will not be present on the CD... J/KI HOPE.
