Well. THIS here is definitely not restrained. I guess we can agree on this.

"I don't think I've written a score that is an ostinato pattern with a fixed bass point and the bass point gets big and you add more strings to it (an octave higher etc.) and it gets bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger and bigger. I … try not to do that."

One of the founders (and later president) of East Germany, Walter Ulbricht, returned to Berlin after WW2 in 1945 from Moscow exile. For a while he lived in my grandma's (empty) flat.

I think you DO want to misunderstand him. I thought he was talking about harmonies. And in this respect, Legends Of The Fall is restrained. There are major and minor chords. Maybe a 7th. But no 9ths, no 6ths, nothing diminished or augmented. As opposed to Peyton Place, which at times sounds like silent film music or from the 30s/40s

As soon as his wife mentioned him being autistic it all made absolute sense. I am not sure whether she meant that seriously or not but it really explains so much. His lack of diplomacy or social skills. Even in interviews he appears disassociated from the situation. Bless him.

Yeah, the director's cut used immense amount of new shots and sequences, greatly extended the film length, and eventually made Horner's music not fitting the pace of the movie, so music from Elfman's Plant of the Apes was used to fill in blanks

Horner’s mood is joking but sometimes severe, especially when the orchestra members begin chatting between takes.
“I don’t think they do that with John Williams,” Horner says of the orchestra’s restlessness after work for the day is done, “but they do that with me. It’s a little bit of the age thing--I’m the same age as some of them, or younger than some of them, and don’t have the credits John does. I like to use young people because I find for the most part they’re very responsive and the mold hasn’t been set yet.”

Dennis' album mix feels disjointed, separate left center right, when switching back and forth between the two, but the film mix feels like a unified stereo field!

Fadein from Entrance of Mr. Hammond is gone!

Overall I definitely like the sound - I always felt it was a little too bright, mostly around Incident then I got used to it, I had no such feelings with this version.

Unfortunately a glitch made it into both versionscof T-Rex Rescue, a loud pop in the left channel at 2:43. I had to patch it up with the section from the JP set version, thankfully it's in an easily editable spot.

Overall I decided I don't like the film Journey after all, the flubby rushed helicopter part and the march transition that completely misses the tempo are both for the worse. I shortened and lengthened a couple notes in the full album version instead - too bad there was still no space for fixing that sea to island "daaa dadadaaaaa" introductory motif's bad performance edit, its first note is brass-heavy and cut off early by the cymbal and all the rest of its notes and the one reprise too are string heavy.

    I was.
I couldn't quite hear; did JW say "Beethoven"?

I really don't get this at all; I've always thought that the studio companies own the music. I used to think this is the main reason why there are so many concert arrangements /  suites created by Williams himself so he can perform them whenever and whereever he wants to.

well, with computers and software, obviously. Like a DJ setup. Hildur did some live vocals though, too. It was an amazing experience. The venue was a former power plant. Very Berlin!

No.  Horner recorded that cue for him to use, but Cameron rejected it and licensed and tracked in the "Heaven Help Us" recording from 1985 instead.

For the Live To Projection concerts they changed it up to not have to license that music.
