    You’re not wrong.

But I have tried to get into it and just can’t.  Needs Ford and Williams.

the writing and production value is worth watching it alone.  with every franchise these days getting a spin off or tv series, it truly shows how ahead of the time that series was.

i dont care for shows these days in franchises that 'fill gaps' in our imagination. everything has to be "OMG I REMEMBER THAT MOMENT FROM THE FILM" and outside of a few moments (ie: "making it up as I go along" lesson learned in phantom train of doom) that show completely stood on it's own for the character. most of the time Indy isn't even the spotlight of that show.  Another reason why I think lots of people may not like it.

there's just a huge difference between a show like Obi Wan that just exists to fill your imagination worse than a novel ever could, to a moment in Young Indy where he jokingly suggests The Red Baron paint his plane red, and he eventually does it. And it's moments like that, that made the show so likeable.

I don't want a show learning how Indy and Sallah met, ect ect, ect.  We don't need this shit spoonfed to us.

Ultimately it seems like stories used to WANT to be told by creators.  Now they're just told to because they know the franchise being tied to it will hit a certain amount $$$.

The problem is, there's nothing special about Star Wars any more. The magic is gone. It's just another scripted show. Even when it's good it's just...OK.

House of the Dragon showed us that a hiatus, good writing and compelling characters can make fans forget about whatever they hated from a franchise's failures. Yes, Star Wars, Star Trek & Marvel just need to go away for a while. But there has to be more than that. Go away not simply because there's too much of all of it (though there is that), but because what they're producing feels watered down and uninspired. It's time to just go away and let other imaginations dream it all up again.

And when they do come back, it needs to be b/c there's a compelling reason to (i.e. a great story & characters) beyond just creating "content" to fill streaming hours.

Of course, none of this will happen, because, yeah, there's too many hours to fill, and a creative incentive alone isn't strong enough.  As long as they continue to serve dog food and fans pretend it's filet mignon, we're stuck with what we get, and are expected to enjoy it.  Actually, enjoying it is optional, just watch.  Come to think of it, watching isn't strictly necessary, just subscribe!

I don't want any Star Wars movies for a good while longer.  I think even the currently planned 2025 is too soon.  Wait until 2029, give 10 years for the environment to rebound after the toxic disaster of TROS

Low fat x is not x in all cases. In fact, fat-free anything (that’s not naturally fat-free) is a crime against humanity. Especially when it comes to cheese.

And yes, Monica is the heart and soul of Friends! Her wail of “nooooooooo!” when they lose the apartment in the trivia game is the best moment of the series. 😂

I finished the Orville, and now I feel like a better human being.  That was the most joy I've had watching anything in I don't know how long.

The dragon scene was very good. The moment the little dragon rose above the storm clouds and flew into the sunlight was really beautiful.

Agreed! That sequence was really scary and I was really at the edge of my seat.

Already seeing Vhagar outside the Storms End castle walls kind of shows the sheer size but the shot in the screenshot was just so impressive!

I can only laugh every time I see "Can't we judge things on their own merits, why do we have to compare"?????!!!!

Everything we make opinions on, up to, including and especially art, is based in part on comparison, and usually in large part. We've been comparing new art we're exposed to with what we've seen before since we were exposed to art, music, television, cinema, etc. as children. We do it whether we're even consciously aware of it or not. We like to think we're judging something solely on its own merits, but we're not. This has been confirmed in study after study.

I mean, this is a forum where we discuss music, cinema & television. Of course we compare things. It would be odd if we didn't.

    Severely disappointed with episode 6!

    - looked bad
    - older princess Rhaenyra is a completely different type of person. I can't adjust. She doesn't have it.
    - Older queen (Bates Motel) doesn't nail the accent and is always dramatic and angry.
    - The entire episode focuses too long on the fact that everyone knows Rhaenyra's sons are all bastards.
    - Surely the gay husband is able to make a woman pregnant? After all, it's a matter of life or death. There is always a way.
    - I miss the old King's Hand.
    - Sigh ... Why?!

House of the Dragon feels less algorithmically driven to me than genre shows on Netflix, Amazon, Disney, etc. I swear some of the shows on those streamers feel like they're designed based entirely on focus groups & audience data, and conjured up in writer's rooms where groupthink is the dominant virtue.

House of the Dragon, the best show on TV, feels purposeful and confident in its characters and story. Whoever is making the decisions on that show clearly has a vision of where they want it to go, and it shows. This is what good television is supposed to look like.

That finale was great! Full of emotion and with a shocking turn of events near the end, that finally has made clear that the Dance of Dragons has begun! I loved Rhaenyra's development through the season, culminating in this episode, in how she tried to maintain the spirit of her father trying to search for a peaceful solution instead of reducing everything to ashes with their dragons. The scene of her crowning was beautiful and I really liked the scenes with her sons, which made that final sequence much more impactful. It's quite interesting to note that for a moment, the riders lost control over their dragons, and that's what lead to the incident, reinforcing the idea that the dragons are dangerous creatures far more powerful than men, be it Targaryen, Hightower or Velaryon. I think is a hint of how cruel and horryfing the Dance can become if the dragons face each other again.

Djawadi's music for the episode was beautiful, with some great renditions of Rhaenyra's different themes, the Heir Theme and some emotional variations on the House Targaryen theme! And most of the important tracks from the episode are released so I'm quite happy with that! I did a more detailed analysis of the score for the episode on my final entry of the season in my blog, so definitely feel free to check it out and share your thoughs on it.

Analysis of the House of the Dragon - 1x10: The Black Queen

Actually, I'm planning on doing a thematic catalogue of all the different themes and motifs that have been introduced and developed through the season, that I will expand in upcoming seasons. I'm even planning to do that thematic catalogue in video format and upload it in YouTube, so if you're interested be sure to stay tuned for that! I hope you all have enjoyed reading this analysis as much as I have enjoyed writing them!

It's been a great seasons and I cannot wait for the following seasons, as I hope they will be as great as this one has been! And I really enjoyed Djawadi's music, and I'm so glad that we got a huge release like that! Now on to listen to the score!

The day before yesterday I finished The Rings Of Power and yesterday I started to watch House Of The Dragon. And, boy, what a difference! I'm home again! I was afraid that writing would be mediocre but it was actually surprisingly good. Then the choice of actors ... The king, the king's hand, the brother of the king, young Daenerys ... I approve all of them. And, yes, I turned my eyes away during the brutal caesarean section scene. All in all, a very promising start.
