Yes. He really killed it on TMP as well.

I was in awe of the 80's LA sound like E.T., Empire of the Sun, and Temple of Doom...detailed and full without the issues of later or earlier recordings.

I believe the first Potter was mostly AIR with a little bit at Abbey Road. Then the second was all Abbey Road.

This is 100% subjective, but I can't fathom choosing a recent LA score, largely because of the brass and especially the trumpets. There's a strange quality to the tone that's somehow both underwhelming and grating for me. I suspect it has more to do with recording techniques than the performers, but it's hard to be sure.

I do tend to like recordings with some substantial 'verb, but my brass issue isn't just a simple matter of how wet the recording is. There are relatively dry scores recorded at Sony that sound great to me—JP, for instance. Go figure.

I hadn't really experienced the full glory of this thread till very recently. I don't recall being aware of this particular dumpster fire, so it still has novelty for me. It'll wear off fast. In the meantime, I guess it's kinda like … the reality chasm you mentioned is profoundly unfunny to me when it's a topic that truly matters. This is just pure silliness.

See, @Score? Classic troll playbook. I agree that he'd need to have a pretty strong grasp of logical fallacies to hit so many of them so hard, though. (Not to mention some pretty strange priorities, to put it charitably. Imagine wasting so much time and energy on this …)

@Datameister, why don't you or @Score have a crack at explaining my logical fallacies and how I'm a troll?

I'd also like to hear each of your assessments of the grander Star Wars 'situation', complete with evidence to support you positions.

E.T., TPM, and the first couple Potter films are some Williams contenders for me.

Exactly! The "Trixie" working title contains both "IX" and "X". It couldn't be more obvious. If they weren't secretly filming them together, they would have chosen a different title that did include "IX" but didn't include "X". How is nobody persuaded by this?!

Every time I come to this thread and there isn't a new Mattris post, I die a little inside. I think I have a problem. Do they have support groups for this?
