Alex reacted to Quintus in Han Solo movie composer
Solo should stick to what he's good at. Smuggling.

Alex got a reaction from artguy360 in John Williams begins recording Star Wars Episode VIII score today in Los Angeles
Johnson is unaware that scoring has even started. He's still putting together same samples of his brother's work to show the producers.

William Ross scoring Episode VIII: Confirmed.

Alex got a reaction from Pieter Boelen in Michael Giacchino's Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) - 2022 Expanded Edition now available
Okay so I've have a had a couple of listens through and here are some thoughts (bear in mind I'm yet to see the film)
- It does sound like a Star Wars score, a Giacchino Star Wars score, but a Star Wars score nonetheless
- Jyn's Theme is quite nice, very Giacchino-y
- The action material is mostly engaging, the best material comes when he's clearly trying to write like JW (Confrontation on Eadu)
- Some of the adaptations of the Imperial March are slightly awkward, however I enjoyed the integrations of the Force Theme
- Was pleasantly surprised by some of the Star Wars themes that were referenced up throughout the score
I'm not exactly overwhelmed by this score but I think it is a pretty solid effort given the time he had to write it in and the inevitable comparisons with JW. Obviously no way near the quality of any other Star Wars score, but did anyone expect it to be?
Of course I'm #teamdesplat so I'm still longing for what could have been.

Your picture both fascinates and frightens me at the same time

Alex got a reaction from DarthDementous in Williams Has Yet to Peak (A Brief Post) ((By a JWFan with 11 Years More Under His Belt))
I remember seeing an interview with JW where he was asked what he considers to be his best score and he said something along the lines of he always hopes his next one will be

Alex got a reaction from crumbs in 2017 Golden Globe Nominations
Surprised no Desplat nomination. He's has a pretty solid year. Thought Florence Foster Jenkins or The Light Between Oceans maybe would have snuck in.
Of course The BFG is superior to all those scores. 😏

JW wouldn't have coped with a visionary director like Yates!

Alex got a reaction from ocelot in John Williams begins recording Star Wars Episode VIII score today in Los Angeles
I'm just worried that he won't get to Episode IX. Not sure my OCD could cope with eight JW Star Wars (episode) scores and one solitary Giacchino entry

Alex got a reaction from Will in Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi (Rian Johnson 2017)
Will be interesting to see what Johnson does in general regarding the scoring process. Is he very hands on? Or will he just let JW get on with it?

Alex reacted to Docteur Qui in Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 5-film series
Just need to point out that at no stage is it implied that Grindelwald reciprocated Dumbledore's romantic feelings at all. Essentially only part of Dumbledore's obsession with Grindelwald was romantic, others were more to do with talent and power. Grindelwald appears to be a bit of a psychopath, so I can imagine he may have used Dumbledore's obsession in his favour but I very much doubt we'll see any kind of love story. I'm more interested in seeing it played out in subtext, which could be really great if they get the perfect actor for DD

That's almost exactly the same as whem Draco Margot unknowingly became the master when he disarmed Dumbledore in HBP

Damn, I misread 2010 as 2000 and just wasted 10 minutes of my life coming up with a list

Alex got a reaction from crumbs in John Williams will begin recording Star Wars VIII this month
I'm looking forward to his end credits suite. He's done some great ones over the past few years (Jedi Steps and Finale is amazing) having all but abandoned them (albeit for some cut and paste jobs) in the early 2000s.
