Disco Stu got a reaction from Naïve Old Fart in What Is The Last Film You Watched? (Older Films)
I'm never ashamed to let sentimentality/nostalgia guide me in these things. Enjoyment is enjoyment!

Disco Stu got a reaction from Naïve Old Fart in The DCU - DC Universe
The word is that Gunn wanted to start fresh with a young cast (so probably a 20something Clark Kent relatively new to Metropolis)

Disco Stu got a reaction from Bayesian in The DCU - DC Universe
It feels nice to be feeling cautiously optimistic about a Superman movie, even if the only reason as of now is that Snyder is no where near it.
artisanal bespoke farm-to-table tentpole film

Disco Stu reacted to Bespin in Carter Burwell
Like Rachel Portman, Burwell is not a fan of "wall-to-wall" scores, so directors really hire him to score the "things" which are not "shown in the movie".
He does that pretty well.
I also loved his score to that movie about Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, which is about, well, three billboards outside...

Disco Stu got a reaction from igger6 in Theme from ”Schindler’s List” (1993), arranged for piano/cello/violin trio by John Williams
The mind is shut. It was made by those who are incurious, and the incurious keep it. The mind is shut.

What's this? Comcast is officially renaming their service "Peacock With... Er.... Bravo? We Should Probably Quit", wow!

Disco Stu got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in Carter Burwell
Yes. And Fargo embodies both the irony and the tragedy of the story. And Hudsucker is wonderful, the whole score not just the Khatchaturian adapted cues. And True Grit!
I just love the way Burwell reflects and comments upon the unique tones of the Coens films. A great underrated director-composer collaboration!

Really this is a genre I engage with more through singles than albums, so some essential artists that didn't do classic albums aren't on this list (most notably, James Brown who was on fire in the early 70s with songs like "Super Bad", "Sex Machine", and "Make It Funky")
1970s Soul/Funk/Disco
Chic - self-titled
Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life
Al Green - Al Green Explores Your Mind
War - The World is a Ghetto
Sly and the Family Stone - There's a Riot Goin' On
Parliament - Mothership Connection
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain
The O'Jays - Back Stabbers
The Spinners - self-titled
Marvin Gaye - I Want You
KC and the Sunshine Band - self-titled
The Isley Brothers - Givin' It Back
Isaac Hayes - Black Moses
Earth, Wind, & Fire - The Best of Earth, Wind, & Fire, Vol. 1
Bill Withers - Still Bill
Bee Gees et. al. - Saturday Night Fever
Tower of Power - Back to Oakland
Booker T. & The MG's - Melting Pot
Gladys Knight & The Pips - Imagination
Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes - self-titled

A warm blanket movie for me. An old friend. It's always been my sentimental favorite over II.

Disco Stu got a reaction from Yavar Moradi in The MCU - Marvel Cinematic Universe
I don't think the finale episodes of Wandavision were that lame. I liked the flashback to Agatha's origin and Agatha going through Wanda's memories with her, I thought the Boner reveal was funny, I liked the Ship of Thebes scene between the Visions, and I liked the sequence of Wanda saying goodbye to fake kids and fake Vision. Were the confrontations between Wanda/Agatha and the Visions a bit disappointing? Sure, but not enough to sour it all.

Disco Stu got a reaction from mstrox in The MCU - Marvel Cinematic Universe
I dunno, I think people expected it to be able to maintain the high watermark (in terms of both audience reception and box office) that crested around 2018-2019, which was just never going to happen. I think the MCU can keep going at, say, 75% as successful as it was in that 18-19 period for a pretty long time.
