#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
On the main page it says:John Williams has made $15 million to $20 million in fees from his NBC news music (including the new "Sunday Night Football" theme and variations), according to a recent Daily Variety article. Those 15 minutes or so of music must have brought in more cash for him then anything else (save possibly the Star Wars scores combined)No wonder he's re-recorded it for NBC, gotta keep the milk-cow happy and healthy. 15 to 20 million? That's an amazing amount of money, even post-Titanic James Horner would get out of bed for that kinda dosh!

Frosty 0
His price per MOVIE is $1 million. As a rule if thumb, most movies don't pay a lot of residuals because they aren't on TV for long. Whereas if you write a TV theme, you make BANK. Elfman gets probably $2-3 million (or more) a year for the Simpsons. Think of all the shows that are in syndication or are on prime-time TV. The composers make a lot of money. Here is a hint for would-be film/tv composers: Score infomercials!!!! They make a huge sum of money becuase of the amount of markets they are played on. It might not be glamorous, but you could easily retire!!!

Jediwashington 59
Commercial and theme music makes the most amount of money anywhere...Imagine the bucks the guy that came up with the McDonalds jingle thing is making just for a few notes! Williams was smart to take on NBC. Since than it's become the top leading station for news, which it wasn't when he made the themes. Now NBC has one of the greatest soundtracks to accompany their work and Williams gets millions.Though really, I doubt he keeps much of it. He's pretty modesst about everything, and doesn't live a lavash life style some people with those kinda paychecks do. so I bet he gives most of it to music charaties or is putting it away to do such a thing at some point. Sure, he probably does have more than we can imagine, but I doubt he really even uses a fraction of it.~JW

Josh500 1,615
$1 million per movie MY ASS! I bet he makes at least $20 per blockbuster movie (that is, the Star Wars and Harry Potter movies, and any big-budget Spielberg movie): the fee and the royalties. Since he also produces the soundtracks, he must make a kick-ass amount of money from the CD sales alone! As to $1 million per movie -- that seems curiously little, considering George Lucas and Steven Spielberg habitually earn hundreds of millions from their blockbusters (Spielberg made $250 million from Jurassic Park)! Certainly Spielberg pays JW a lot more than a million, especially since he's claimed JW is responsible for half the success of Jaws!
